NEW: Val Verde County Sheriff Joe Frank Martinez has escorted our crew towards the border bridge where the group of mostly Haitian migrants is waiting to be processed.

A Border Patrol agent tells me the latest count is 13,700 men, women, and children under the bridge. #NBCNews
The Sheriff tells me a woman went into labor under the bridge yesterday and was taken to a nearby hospital. A two year child was also taken and treated after becoming unresponsive.

Current temperature in Del Rio, 99° with a high of 100° today. #NBCNews
Sheriff adds his office is investigating an assault that took place under the bridge yesterday between a man and a woman. Says as group gets larger it makes it more difficult to keep order and poses added risk for all.

I covered the removal of the Confederate Memorial in Dallas. As I was walking away from it I had a conversation that sticks with me whenever this topic comes up...
As I crossed the street, I noticed a Black DPD Officer sitting in his car. I gave a head nod and walked past, then stopped, and decided to turn around. I introduced myself, told him what I was covering, and asked a question...
I asked, “Whenever you look up and see that memorial, what goes through your head?”

He paused, thought about it a bit. Looked at it, looked at me, and spoke his truth.

“Whenever I see that,” he said pointing at the statue, “I see them reminding me, they used to own us.”

Former #Minneapolis officer Tou Thao was called first. Must surrender firearms, void firearm permits, and have no contact with family of #GeorgeFloyd.

Upon setting bail Judge Scoggin stated, “I’m hard pressed to come up with any comparisons in this case.” #NBCNews
Former officer J. Keung was called second. Attorney says #Keung is not a flight risk and has never lived more than ten miles from the home he grew up in.
