Dmitry Rybolovlev will appeal decision by Swiss prosecutors to close his case against Swiss art dealer Yves Bouvier who he accused of conning him out of $1.1 billion by inflating prices of art sold to Rybolovlev
All of Rybolovlev's art dealings have seemed odd to me since I started following them in 2017 - before he put his Leonardo Da Vinci painting Salvatore Mundi up for sale, it was expected to sell for *less* than the $127 million he had paid for it
I try to avoid tin hat theories, but can't help myself on this one (it's just a bit unbelievable that Rybolovlev was swindled out of a billion dollars, and never checked the receipts or market value of art purchased)
I wrote about a different business sector but with a similar storyline of Rybolovlev losing money
Rybolovlev invested in a battery factory in the US that went bankrupt - but many of the players reappeared in a new venture that has barely been reported on
There's more to the Rybolovlev Bauvier partnership than art
@YFelshtinsky described plans by Putin Rybolovlev & Perm region Mayor Yuri Trutnev to open a free port in Vladivostok and how Bouvier created free ports in Geneva, Luxembourg and Singapore.
The story alleges Rybolovlev laundered $1 billion that Bouvier used to open free ports all over the world - since no location besides Vladivostok, could function with the involvement of a Russian (Rybolovlev) the legal owner of the free ports was Bouvier
