While the cancellation of the series is extremely disappointing & a popular outburst is natural, we need to stay focussed on what is good for 🇵🇰 & it’s 🏏 . And right now that is to work on ensuring that the English tour is (alongwith other future tours) not cancelled as well 1/n

But if you were the NZ PM - based on the above - what would you have done - believe in your process and protect the people you are responsible for, or take a chance on another country’s word? If I put myself in her shoes, I know I would have relied on my Govt. 4/n

Pakistan also did all the right things, and the PM taking direct initiative was spot - regardless of the results. We should feel disappointed but not short-changed. After all it was NZ who decided to visit after 18 years. We DO want them to come back in future. 5/n

So at the expense of being unpopular right now, let me say this to @BLACKCAPS - we are disappointed (and we are sure you too) that you couldn’t continue. We would work with you and @ICC to find what actually happened, find a solution to it and welcome you back soon IA. 6/n

We now need to prioritise:
1-work with ECB to ensure that their visit stays on course
2-DO NOT react in a way that creates self-inflicted hurdles for future visits
3-ask for an independent report on the issue at the ICC level in due course to avoid such occurrences in future 7/n

Keeping a cool head, staying focussed on the bigger picture, and staying engaged with our global partners is the only option! 8/8
