We will not be at war with Boko Haram forever. The insurgency in itself is DEAD. What we have are marauding criminal gangs and enterprises carrying out criminal activities like robbery,
..abduction for ransome under the name of "terrorism". They carry out criminal activities and get rewarded with media notoriety.
This level of notoriety is in itself addictive. They dont even bother pretending to be fighting for a cause anymore. No manifesto, no objective
..just sensless attacks because of the media notoriety that comes with it. Once in a while they hit pay dirt, attacking military formations. It doesnt matter if hours later they are flushed out, so long as it made it headline news its victory for them.
Their goal is not to create a Republic. They know its impossible.
They just hit targets ofopportunities and defenceless civilians and stay relevant, and hope to hit it big someday with the likes of Sheikh Gumi playing terrorist advocate.
The prospect of immense wealth gives terrorists a reason to continue fighting. Innocent civilians are their key to a life of undeserved wealth and has such they are now waging unrestricted war on the civilian populace. Those who advocate for them have blood on their hands.
The religious cleric Sheikh Gumi has been quite for months. But when demoralized banditd began taking in unbearable casualties and surrendering by the thousands, Sheikh Gumi burst into the scene again, encouraging bandits to hold the forte while he plays the "its not fair" card.
Condems the military and demand millions of tax payers money as compensation for bandits.
Governments all over come to the negotiating table when military victory becomes unattainable. Its one thing for the Sheikh to advocate for Amnesty as a means to stop the shedding of
..innocent blood. It is malicious, but at least he can play the "bringing an end to the bloodletting" card in theory.
But when the enemy is on the verge of capitulation, its members demoralized and traumatized, Sheikh Gumi comes burst into the scene, condemns the military
..offensive and declares
"BANDITS ARE GOING NO WHERE"
..then Sheikh Gumi has become a national security threat. The mass surrender of bandits reduced to a trickle when Gumi began to publicly condem the military
..offensive an demand Amnesty. This is fuel for them not to lose hope but to continue the slaughter of innocent civilians.
Shiek Gumi is getting addicted to the fame and attention he is getting. He has creating his own brand. Everybody wants to be recognized as an activist.
He is back with his antics again today.
QUOTE
When you don’t have this information at your disposal, you will make a blunder in trying to address the issue. Just look at it from both sides. They are fighting a system that has long neglected them and they are fighting back.
They are reacting to the society that has been unfair to them. How do you cure this by increasingly being unfair? I am trying to tame a lion, a wild animal, that is what I am trying to do. Not to excite it to cause more damage.
END QUOTE
What you are seeing is a man justifying the murder of innocent civilians. He shows a complete lack of empathy for the victims but instead calls the barbarous bandits victims and tries to blackmail the government with vieled threats, pointing to attacks on soft targets as proof
Sheikh Gumi wants to impress upon us that a bunch of cowards, who rather than face the military choose to engage civilians who cannot defend themselves, has the capability to bring Africa's largest economy, largest military with a population of 200+ million to its knees
and the only way bandits will have mercy on Nigeria is for the government to pay them hundreds of millions of naira in Amnesty. Saying it is not every conflict that has a military solution.
QUOTE
But if we say we want to fight them, we don’t have the force to fight them
Which army can you employ? You will exhaust them and let us not forget, Boko Haram is not yet finished. Only that they had a disarray when they lost their godfather and leader, Shekau and they are not well accepted by ISWAP. Let us show sympathy for their plight.
END QUOTE.
Ladies and gentleman. What you are seeing is a morally bankrupt man who has seared his concience for money and fame. It takes mental depravity to ask victims of banditry to show sympathy to their plight and reward them with money. There are millions of Nigerians
..graduates who live hand to mouth after spending resources and years at the university. These terrorists have denied countless kids their right to an early education by targeting schools, abducting female students and giving them out in marriage, or as suicide bombers
Thanks to Gumis tantalizing offer of wealth, these bandits have carried out acts of morbid depravity and cruelty in an attempt to shock the President to the negotiating table.
I recently saw a footages someone sent to me on WhatsApp. The first few minutes showed dozens
kidnapped victims, most of them couldnt have been older than 12 years old. In their midst were some men, presumably teachers or staffers from a school they attacked. Bound hands behind their back sitting on the floor. I expected some masked figure to start making demands.
instead i regretted ever watching that footage. One by one these people were hacked to death. Not shot. Hacked with matches one by one. I saw just about 10 seconds of and with trembming hands promptly deleted.
I got a whiff of why war veterans sometimes kill themselves or suffer PTSD. I was traumatized by that 10 seconds clips for weeks. I self medicated with alcohol to numb the trauma. You cannot unsee it. Its a different kind of trauma that cannot be adequately described in words.
Those were peoples children. These are the people the cleric Sheikh Gumi is advocating for and audaciously demand sympathy from Nigerians for their plight.
Sheikh Gumi says he has access to information. Isnt it time for an appointment with the DSS concerning that information?
More depressing is the fact that the Nigerian media is fast becoming the official propaganda machinery of terrorism in Nigeria. They disseminate terrorist propaganda, allowing terrorist sympathizer Sheikh Gumi on their platform to spew hate, giving him recognition as a brand.

More than 8,000 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered from their enclaves and hideouts. And whether you like it or not, the Shock and Awe strategy i.e overwhelming firepower is responsible for this development.
Are there still abductions? Yes of course. There will be attacks
..on soft targets. Its a given there will be high profile attacks. But we cannot deny the fact the tide has changed dramatically. The Shock and Awe and Scorched Earth strategy is working. The army has blocked logistics routes and supplies thanks to robust ISR operations.
The Air Force has bombarded every known hideouts and camps. These guys are as dumb as a rock. They get married, raise kids in the forest. They get regular visits by their sympathizer Sheikh Gumi and they bask in a false sense of security. They mistake the military's patience
With French Defence Minister Florence Parley in Mali attempting to stop the deployment of Russian troops in Mali, let's take an in-depth look at the big picture. What is really going on.
France is all over the place. From West Africa to Central Africa to Libya to Southern Africa to an apology tour of Rwanda to the South China Sea to Australia. It takes an incredible amount of andrenaline to maintain this tempo of engagement,
Picture this. You’re driving down a road, singing along with your favorite song, cool air rushing in, when out of nowhere a trailer appears in a bend in the road. Before you know what’s happening, you swerve to miss it and slam on your breaks. You’re breathing hard and fast,
Nigerian Air Force 1980s versus 2021 who wins? (TWO PA)
Background.
After the Nigerian Civil War, in the the Soviet Union delivered 25 MiG-21MF and six MiG-21UM fighters to Nigeria. The MiG-21MF worn camouflaged paint while the two seater arrived with metal color.
The MiG-21 Fishbed was badass at its time, equipped with Soviet RSBN, a short range navigation system. When Chadian forces invaded Nigeria's Lake Chad islands in April 1983, the MIG-21 had its baptism of fire. Its performance showed the military the value of air power.
MiG-21 harassing strikes halted the advance of Chadian forces and bought the army time to mobilize. By the time the army, led by GOC 2rd amoured division Gen M Buhari was fully mobilized and attacked, the Chadians, already weakened by days of airstrikes capitulated and fled.
Could Nigeria's decision to aquire 24 M346FA attack jets be to replace the Alpha Jet as the frontline aviation (work horse) of the Nigerian Air Force? From a cost effective tactical solution standpoint it makes perfect sense.
For decades the Alpha jet was the work horse of the NAF. we had them in numbers than any other fixed wing airframe in our inventory. They were easy to operate and maintain.
So if the NAF is phasing out the Alpha jets
..we all assumed the high performance JF-17 Thunder
will take up that role. But we gonna need so many of them. Besides, why stress the airframe of arguably our best anti-ship weapon missile carrying platform and strategic air defence for low intensity conflict?
Poland and Nigeria initially signified interest in the Rooivalk. Poland was seeking new attack helicopters under its Kruk programme while Nigeria has an urgent operational requirement for attack helicopters to combat Boko Haram militants. The diplomatic row over
..the arrest of Nigeria's armed agents and confiscation of funds killed any chance of Nigeria aquring the Rooivalk. We went for the Mi-35M instead. Unfortunate turn of events as the Rooivalk was of a much modern design.
Its a season of outrage for Paris. Turkeys involvement in Libya left France fuming. Russia's involvement in the C.A.R left Paris fuming. ECOWAS demand for a return to constitutional order in Guinea and threats to impose sanctions left Paris fuming.
Mali's pivot to Russia left Paris fuming with threats it could take relations between France and Mali to breaking point.
This underscores growing Russia influence in region. Be not surprised if we eake up to news of another coup de etat in Mali days from now.
Now the United States, Britain and Australia has formed a strategic defence deal for the Indo pacific region to help share better defence capabilities. Now i can understand why China will see things differently and criticize the deal
