I’m not so sure I fully believe anyone - either Milley or his critics - about this unless they are willing to testify under oath before Congress. That’s what we need.

It’s just way too easy for people to leak either positive or negative spin without attaching their name to it or being accountable for cross-examination.
What exactly did Milley say? Who exactly knew about and coordinated with it? What exactly could it have messed up? These are issues that can’t just be glossed over with “if you knew you’d understand”.
In fact, the more senior the person, the more I doubt their anonymous, unsworn story they’re peddling, because it seems to me there were a lot of people trying to cover their asses in the crazy last days of the Trump Administration.
What exactly gets negotiated in the final month of a presidency anyway?
Absent a major crisis or challenge, it’s not the time to be amping up the pressure anywhere, until the new team has a chance to make its own decisions.
I heard that some in the Trump Admin wanted to “lock in” Biden on China, with some radical last minute strokes, but that itself would be deeply irresponsible - regardless of what you think of Biden on that or any other issue.
