The author is proposing a "Mega-Diplomacy that makes every influential force negotiate and work together with every other."
Sounds ambitious. Let's see what they've got to say.
Diplomacy has evolved through the ages. "In the modern world, especially with emergent technologies, diplomacy is far more than a means of negotiation and a defense against war."
But I'd add that it's not particularly democratic. And these days with the cult of celebrity, people might have platforms without the expertise or knowledge to support their position.
"All diplomats should aspire to a similar position (of having influence like Oxfam) by proactively approaching situations with a willingness to collaborate."
The author suggests adding noble goals to the position description of diplomats with accountability to those goals as a means of proving performance and future promotion. E.g. completing a project to dig wells in the global south. This might teach them to work in teams.

The author proposes that regional security should be preferenced over global security. Crowdsourced (probably better described as outsourced) diplomacy can also break down tribal or silo walls.

The author proposes the idea that colonialism can be good and diplomats can be the new colonialists.
I'm not sold on this idea.

The author poses the questions why some poor countries stay poor despite resource wealth. Cites BRIC and copying BRIC countries as the reason. BRIC countries did not copy the West but found their own way. Other impoverished countries are unique too.

Some countries have become dependent on aid, so aid agencies might be part of the problem. It's in the execution.
Reminds me - better to give a helping hand up rather than a hand-out.
The author also suggests that a better way to distribute aid is to help them with their immediate needs and then help them to build businesses which can attract foreign investment.
Who doesn't want to invest in Tencent or Alibaba when they were in their infancy??

"The world is a convoluted mess of global actors, each driven by its own self-interest. War, poverty and suffering are rampant and the only way forward is a new diplomatic system that fosters communication among all actors involved."
This was an interesting book summary. I like some of the concepts, but I'm also unsure of some of the others. I'm attracted to radical ideas though because I don't think the status quo is fair or equitable.

"“nice” progressive white people frequently perpetrate the most racial harm in cross-racial spaces. They objectify Black people and people of color, enact daily racist microaggressions, & center their own feelings of shame when called out – that is, they make it all about them."
My time in Echuca having to write up other ppls (the previous term's interns) discharge summaries, whilst a crap experience, did teach me to navigate the medical record and find information very quickly.
Supervision in undergraduate medicine... was very thin on the ground when I went to medical school. We used to watch each other take histories and examine, possibly more for emotional support than peer feedback. Very rarely did anyone watch us take this vital clinical skill.
