#CaldorFire: the flareup W of Lake Margaret has grown significantly in the last 12 hours. Fire has run N of the lake into Bucks Pasture and has jumped Strawberry Creek. Several hundred additional acres have burned. Remember...

...the area burning is well inside the "alligator mouth." While spread is expected to continue, there is black to the W, N, and S, and Little Round Top to the E. No imminent threat to structures. While many refer to this as the "Kirkwood area" locals know it's well N. #CaldorFire

NOTE on Lake Margaret area: you will likely see a lot of images like the one here coming out today. Please remember folks have returned home not far from here so when you share it, please choose your words carefully and include some of the info I provided above.

#WindyFire: SW flank continues increase activity. Fire has jumped Eagle Creek moving up towards Redwood Corral. S/SE of here fire has jumped control lines. Crews are firing here towards Parker Peak to try to stop the spread.

#WindyFire: S, no structure damage reported in Johnsondale. Fire remains N and NE within control lines. Good news continues here.

#WindyFire: E/NE, spread has slowed towards Peppermint and Pondersa. Crews continue structure prep here and will need to monitor with day heat and wind shift. Good news for the moment.

#WindyFire: W/NW, spot fires appear well established now where the SF Tule River meets Miner Creek. It does not appear it's moving up the ridges towards the W at this time.

Pls RT: area of increased fire activity N of 88 near L Margaret is *not* a threat to Kirkwood. See above thread for detailed info. Pls help prevent unnecessary panic for the good people returning home here after an extremely stressful life event. Thank you, ~J

#CaldorFire UPDATE: 219,578 acres. 76% contained. As discussed earlier area of growth is in the Lake Margaret area.

#CaldorFire ALERT: Ops expect fire to reach Little Round Top and have now added the *possibility* of spot fires to the E of this ridge. I will continue to repeat Kirkwood is not in danger from this increased activity, but it it is time to begin monitoring for points E.

I'm going live in about 20 minutes on Discord to take a closer look at what is happening around Little Round Top and where the #CaldorFire may be moving next.

ALERT: New Start named #SmithFire, ops using #CaldorFire frequency. Looking for specific location and info now.

UPDATE: #SmithFire is located on the N shore of Smith Lake, NW of Pyramid Peak. Ops are referring to this as a new start meaning this is not a spotfire from #CaldorFire.

UPDATE: Helo passed the #SmithFire without reporting anything alarming. Ops keeping an eye on it but for now fire is pretty well surrounded by granite. May be some bucket work here soon/later. Again, this was a new start and not related to #CaldorFire despite location.

ALERT: New towering plume developed over E/SE of #WindyFire in less than 10 minutes. Coms indicating increased fire activity on E side. Can also see new spot fires on S side possibly below Redwood Corral.

UPDATE: Fixed wing tankers are dropping retardant on the W side of #WindyFire in Parker Peak area to try to stop the growth W.

Flareup above Bryan Creek SW of Sierra at Tahoe. Smoke drifting across the Sierra at Tahoe cam. This is well within the black so there is no alarm at this time. #CaldorFire

#UniversityFire is spreading towards a neighborhood in San Bernadino. This area gets a lot of attention so no need for me to cover it live. Will have it running in Discord if anyone wants to join me and talk about it there. Still monitoring #CaldorFire push up Little Round Top.
