Thinking back to high-level work 40 years ago calling for behavioural science to integrate with climate science leads Baruch Fischoff to consider why it didn't happen, and how it can happen now: "A planetary threat needs an academic world worthy of the challenge"

Read the outcome of 5 experiments on how attitudes are formed on "hot-button" policy issues such as climate change, and our "contagious sense of understanding". Can we help people know what they don't know, and thereby combat polarisation around climate change?

What really predicts support for climate change policies? Is it beliefs, affect, risk perception, or social norms? Better understanding could enable more tailored communication strategies
