The private groups for Afghanistan are all different sizes and members.
Most are made up of veterans and retired special forces or faith-based and human rights charities.
Most individuals are volunteering to do the work.
The groups are all funded by donations.
Unfortunately, the reality is that there are too many people to rescue in Afghanistan and not enough assets and resources for civilians in private groups.
Until the U.S. government @StateDept makes a deal with the Taliban for commercial air travel and legal overland routes, the people rescued will be chosen by the private groups based on their own criteria and relationships.
My guide is for the biggest groups that have gotten people to safety. As I gather more organizations, I will keep adding to it.

"Thousands of Afghan journalists and media workers fled to the U.S. But hundreds of journalists who have worked in the media for years and are in serious danger are still at large and could be attacked at any moment."
Summary: @glennbeck charity has raised over $10 million and so far gotten thousands of people out of Afghanistan by plane, mostly from Mazar-e-Sharif. @thenazarenefund focuses on rescuing persecuted Christians.

“I am former staff member of the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan. I'm left behind and now in Kabul, under serious security threats, and going through the hardest times of my life.” #AbandonedinAghanistan

“I used to work as Visa Assistant at the Consular Section. Due to my employment with the US Embassy, I am exposed to a lot of people as I had to interact with hundreds of visa applicants daily at the consular interviewing windows.”

“On Aug 24th, during the USG evacuation from the country, I and my wife attempted to get into the airport to be evacuated and escape from the Taliban but unfortunately the Americans did not let us in.” #AbandonedinAghanistan (3/6)
My source (a SIV) was at the Serena Hotel yesterday He said that Qatar has reps there with “a list from the U.S. State Department.” The agent told him that they are only helping U.S. passport holders. He said they won’t help legal permanent residents (LPR) in Afghanistan. 2/5
Since he is a SIV and doesn’t fall in the categories that Pres. Biden and Secretary of State Blinken are prioritizing, he did not get any help. 3/5
I talk, email and text with people in Afghanistan every day since I got involved on Aug. 28 with this rescue project— at the request of a retired special forces operator who wanted public awareness of the crisis in the country. (3/7)
