Finding time to read is hard.

Finding time to read as a parent is nearly impossible.

Here are 10 reading tips for busy parents:
1) Read for 5 Mins Before the Craziness of the Day

Wake up a few minutes earlier before your kids get up to have some alone time with a book.

Keep a book next to your nightstand so you can easily read without leaving the comfort of your bed.
2) Read On Your Commute

Trains are buses are a great place to read, especially if you have a long ride to and from work.

Keep a book in your work bag so it's always with you while commuting.

If you drive to work or don't like reading on the go, try listening to an audiobook.
3) Read During Lunch

Don't like your coworkers or just want some alone time for yourself during the day?

Read your book during lunch.

If you packed a lunch, it should only take about 5-10 minutes to eat and you can spend the remainder of the time reading your book.
4) Multitask With Audiobooks

At the playground with your kids but don't want to lose sight of them?

Listen to an audiobook.

Watching your kid's soccer game?

Listen to an audiobook.

Cooking dinner for the kids?

Listen to an audiobook.
5) Always Carry a Book With You

It could be for you, your child, or both.

Put β€˜reading material’ on the list of things you would usually carry: phone, wallet, keys, book!

You could also keep an ebook or audiobook on your phone so you always have a book with you.
6) Take Your Kids to the Library

Kids have homework to do and you want to get some reading done?

Take them to the library and read while they do school work.

Have a free weekend and nothing to do?

Take your kids to the library to get new books and do some reading together.
7) Add Family Book Nights to Movie Nights

It's fun to have a movie night as a family.

Having a book night can be equally as fun.

Sit together in a room and read for 30 minutes and then go around discussing what everyone's reading and learning.
8) Pack Books on Trips

Going away for the weekend?

Back some books for yourself and the kids.

Going on vacation?

Tell your kids to read in the car or plane and do the same.
9) Read the Same Book Together

Read the same book as your child and discuss it during dinner.

It's a great way to turn your kid into a reader while spending quality time with them.

Also, many kids' books have a deep message that you'll enjoy learning about even as an adult.
10) Read To Your Kids At Night

Bedtime is the perfect opportunity for a nice reading session.

Take turns who does the reading–start by reading to your kids, but as they get older, have them read aloud to you.

Reading aloud also helps your kid develop better speaking skills.

10 of the most important visuals from "Atomic Habits" by @JamesClear:

1) 1% Better Every Day

If you get 1% better every day for one year, you won't become 10x better...

You'll become 37x better.

Small improvements compound over time and lead to huge results. Image
2) The Plateau of Latent Potential

Progress is not always linear. Our results are often delayed.

The "valley of disappointment" is the period where we feel discouraged after putting in lots of work without experiencing results.

But this work is not wasted, it's being stored. Image
