I reported on the historic summit of CELAC, the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States, hosted in Mexico

It was an important step away from US neocolonial proxy the OAS by strengthening regional integration, although there are contradictions
english.almayadeen.net/articles/analy…
The presidents of Venezuela and Cuba attended the historic CELAC summit in Mexico, defying US coup attempts.

CELAC demanded an end to the criminal 60-year US blockade of Cuba.

In a very impressive step, CELAC also called for decolonization of Puerto Rico
english.almayadeen.net/articles/analy…
Venezuelan President Maduro stressed that the difference between CELAC and the OAS is the difference between Bolivarianism and Monroeism — that is, between Latin American independence and regional unity on one side, or US neocolonialism on the other
english.almayadeen.net/articles/analy…
The US founded the OAS in Colombia in 1948, a year before the main tool of US imperialism, NATO.

Like NATO, whose founders included Portugal's fascist dictatorship, the OAS was a right-wing anti-communist alliance including Nicaragua's Somoza dictatorship

Peru's new leftist President Pedro Castillo used his first ever speech at the United Nations to call for a "social transformation" that guarantees not just civil and political rights, but also economic and social rights to healthcare, education, housing, and dignified work
At the UN, Peru's President Castillo insisted "health, education, water, and sanitation cannot be for-profit business. They are fundamental human rights that we must guarantee"

He also emphasized the need to eliminate extreme poverty and hunger, and reduce poverty and inequality
Notably, Peru's President Castillo clearly avoided international affairs in the UN speech, and did not comment on any conflicts in Latin America.

His government’s foreign policy has been inconsistent, and his anti-imperialist foreign minister was forced by the military to resign

At the UN, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced US imperialism, which "threatens, extorts and pressures sovereign states," demanding its "allies" help "overthrow legitimate governments"

He noted murderous sanctions have "become the central instrument of US foreign policy"
Cuba's president condemned the Biden admin. for continuing Trump's same criminal policies, waging an "unconventional war," with millions of dollars, "through campaigns of manipulation and lies."

The US goal is "to erase the Cuban Revolution."

"They do not accept alternatives."
"For more than 60 years, the US government has not for one minute stopped its attacks against Cuba."

At the UN, Cuban President Díaz-Canel condemns the United States for tightening its murderous blockade "in such a criminal and opportunist way, in the middle of the pandemic."

At the UN, President Biden blatantly lied, claiming, "For the first time in 20 years, the US is not at war."

FALSE. The Biden admin has bombed Syria, Iraq, Somalia, backing Saudi bombing of Yemen.

The US is militarily occupying Syria and Iraq, and waging economic war everywhere
In his UN speech, President Biden also singled out "Belarus, Burma [Myanmar], Syria, Cuba, Venezuela" -- all targets of US regime-change operations.

This was a clear threat. Washington aims to overthrow all of those countries' independent governments, through hybrid warfare.
At the UN, Biden deified the imperialist NATO military cartel (which destroyed Yugoslavia and Libya, and supported ex-Nazis and fascists in Operation Gladio) as "sacred."

He then emphasized NATO Article 5 on "collective defense," which is an indirect threat to *war with Russia*

Western corporate media propagandists refuse to admit the biggest opposition force in Russia is the Communist Party, which just won 2nd place in the elections, because many people (especially older Russians) are nostalgic for the Soviet Union

Good thread on their disinfo tactics
Good point. When I say many Russians are nostalgic for the Soviet Union, I mean that they miss its incredible social services: guaranteed jobs, housing, healthcare, education, etc.

Polls show 75% say the USSR was the "greatest era" in Russia's history
"Just 18% of Russian respondents said they disagree with the idea that the Soviet Union was the best time in their country’s history."

"Only a small portion of those surveyed said they had negative associations with the Soviet Union."

In addition to being the anniversary of the CIA coup in Chile, 9/11 is also the anniversary of the 2012 attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which was being used by the CIA to funnel weapons to al-Qaeda-allied Salafi-jihadist "rebels" in Syria
lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v36/…
The CIA rat line in Benghazi "was used to funnel weapons and ammunition from Libya via Turkey and across the Syrian border to the opposition. Many of those in Syria who ultimately received the weapons were jihadists, some of them affiliated with al-Qaida"
lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v36/…
The CIA ratline sending weapons from Benghazi, Libya to al-Qaeda-allied Salafi-jihadists in Syria was funded by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, and supported by Britain's MI6.

They used front companies in Libya, under cover of Australian entities. It was led by David Petraeus. ImageImage
