Antiscience aggression causing the deaths of 2,000 unvaccinated Americans per day, is fast approaching the leading cause of death on a daily basis in the United States 🇺🇸. In a series of papers in @PLOSBiology I reported how death by antiscience was accelerating. No one cared.

1/3 This is awful, something I’ve warned about. But also important to remember this is not just a single anchor. This is disinformation, deliberate antiscience aggression that comes from their leadership to discredit science, target scientists, destabilize the nation. And why….

We’ve wasted vast energy on phony GOF and lab leak nonsense. I’ve worked in China for 3 decades. I’ve said since the beginning: unless we find a Sino-US path of cooperation across Central China for a year to understand at a granular level the origins, we’ll have another pandemic
On multiple occasions I’ve offered to both Trump and Biden White House to appoint me as US Science Envoy to break the ice and get to the bottom of this. The realpolitik is that it’s more convenient and expedient to do nothing and posture than it is to prevent COVID-26 COVID-32

So here it is: Since April 100,000 unvaccinated Americans needlessly lost their lives to Covid despite widespread availability of safe effective vaccines. They were defiant succumbing to gross antiscience aggression from the political right, a disgusting “health freedom” movement

Here’s the data today from @CDCMMWR showing decline vs hospitalizations for Pfizer BioNTech after 120 days down to 77%. That’s a problem cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/7…
Also we’re discussing a problem with the State of #Idaho. In 2018 we published in @PLOSMedicine the high rates of childhood vaccinations due to strong antivaccine sentiments and phony health freedom ideologies, and now this continues with COVID19 among the lowest vaccinations
