Hardly want to send any views to the propaganda site Wire, but this article is hilarious in its contortions at Islamic hagiography (is this a full time occupation of “South Asian Studies” now?)
First they argue that Mughal Temple destruction was due to “secular” reasons… 1/
Then @CMarrewa spins away all that to claim how tolerant Mughals were in giving grants to the Nath Yogis.
When it is evident even in her examples that this is not due to any “religious ecumenism” but wanting favors like cures (Mercury concoctions.)
2/
Naths were powerful, both as ascetics and as a militant force. Mughals were currying favor with them with grants while they destroyed other Hindu temples when they could.
This doesn’t make the Mughals “great”, they were simply trying to ingratiate themselves.
These Karens think they are on a noble cause. Rather they are simply aligning themselves with a powerful global totalitarian religion to attack indigenous traditions.
Like all bullies, because they can. Not unlike Mughals who attacked the weak and ingratiated with the powerful.
Their blindness to privilege is staggering.
"Supremacy", "fascism" are Eurocentric ideas, born in a milieu of totalitarian exclusive religion. Use of these against Hindus asserts that native cultures can only be pale variants of European history.
Depicting Muslims as perpetual victims @hannahcarlan, is also an artifact of Eurocentric history and White guilt (not to mention petro $ funding for US academia) projected onto India.
In India, Islam has been a colonizing force, its violence continues.
Hilarious. The keep replicating memes from the West, like "right-wing", and even deny Hindus the experience of being subjected to colonialism. All uppity Hindus who don't genuflect to Western supremacy will be branded as "extremists" and supremacists. 😆
Hindus are both (largely) colored people and indigenous. The notion of "Hindu supremacists" is a way to to attack Hindus who resist the erasure of their culture.
May be challenging to understand if you've internalized Western social "science" education.
Lol, tired argument. Where did I claim there is a "singular Hindu culture." Diversity is inherent to Hindu traditions; which is why the charge of "Hindu supremacy" is even more absurd.
Supremacy arises from monotheistic supremacy and exclusive religion.
There are a multiplicity of Hindus and a multiplicity of cultures, linked together. And a Hindu can resist erasure of "their culture." There is no contradiction. It's an unproductive red herring.
These are largely toxic front organizations with no community support. Attacking “Hindutva” by these toxic front orgs is a fig-leaf for the eradication of Hindus which is part of the agenda of religious and cultural imperialism that the likes of @CMarrewa support.
Read "The Compromised Campus." A lot of the "area studies" departments were setup with State Department assistance as a way to "study" the other for imperial utility.
I already referred you to a book. India had Stridhan, moveable property that was controlled and passed on via women. This was changed in colonial rule as land become tradeable and women disinherited in property.
Dowry was a European custom and distortion introduced to India. But even today people parents will say "hamari ladki hai, jo hamara man karega, vo usko denge." The meaning of "dowry" in India as stridhan. inheritance of a woman, needs to to be restored. It belongs to her.
As I've said before. In India to for a Hindu to show they're "progressive", they need to attack Hinduism.
But you can be a fundamentalist Muslim, an apologist for perfect (fundamentalist) Islam, and be called "progressive" by the Indian Left. You can even spin away the Taliban.😆
The results are apparent in every field. From Artificial Intelligence patents to the Olympics.
"English Advantage"
No, there is practically no example of a country neglecting the mother tongue of the majority of people to impose a foreign language, and then becoming a technological leader.
English imposition and slavery is India's liability. We still don't get it.
