The mandir is dedicated to bhagwaan Virupaksha, a form of Shiv ji.
The mandir was built by Lakkan Dandesha.
Hemakuta Hill
It is said that the hill was once fortified with stone walls, the ruins of which can still be seen. It is also said that this is the place where the marriage of Shiv ji was finalised.
There are several temples dedicated to Shiv ji here.
Krishna Mandir Pushkarni
They are built in the typical Vijayanagara style of architecture. Many of these water tanks have decorative arcade surrounding them.
The massive water tanks have large stone steps that allowed people to get into the water easily.
