realizing that the 30 year mortgage is basically middle class rent control unlocked a lot of things in my thinking
yes, most Americans don't know that before the New Deal you couldn't get a 30-year fixed because it's financially nuts!
never knew this was such a popular topic lol
to clarify, I don't think the 30-year mortgage is necessarily good or bad. it's financially helpful for individuals (de facto a huge subsidy for buyers) but also fuels price inflation and toxic homes-as-investment mindset. just one tool in the policy toolbox

so France is pissed because it got treated like the second-rank power it is and is having trouble coming to terms with that? nytimes.com/2021/09/22/opi…
it's not fun to be pushed around, but my advice to France is to embrace it. being a great power is stupid and horrible! you end up pissing money away on the military and routinely get bogged down in unwinnable wars
one reason the Nordics are great imo is they're just small countries who can't afford to go on madcap imperialist crusades, so they mainly focus on tending their own little garden

this argument has a pretty gigantic hole in it
forcing someone to get vaccinated could quite literally *save their life or that of their friends and family.* it is just dishonest to class this with redlining or whatever
dishonest and also clumsily mistaken on the facts! that's the Evopsych Promise

look at this hack fraud lol
oh for sure man. "Whether vaccine mandates are ok depends on if illness is easily transmitted" is a principle that hinges entirely on what level of government is implementing the mandate
conservatives gotta work themselves into a frenzy to get some more judicial rule-by-decree so they can stop Biden from saving their own voters' lives
