Reasons why the ongoing problems with #subtitles and access fails annoys and angers me so much (a thread)
1) That it happened. Why are we so reliant on one company for something so important? Why is there no back up plan? Why can no-one come with a solution after 10 whole days?
2) That we keep being told it will be fixed “as soon as possible”. What does that even mean? Are we talking days, weeks, months? It’s offensive in being so vague and meaningless.
3) The absence of any proactive information on this. Why can’t the broadcasters @BBC@Channel4@channel5_tv communicate which programmes are going to be affected? If it’s still going to be a problem tomorrow?
… Do they not realise how soul destroying it is to sit down hoping it’ll be sorted and then find out you can’t watch your favourite programme?
4) That there’s not more of a fuss. Know it’s not up there with fuel shortages, etc. but if people had to watch TV without sound for 10 days jeez you’d hear more about it in the media. Kudos to @Limping_Chicken for continuing to raise this
5) Related to all of the above, the level of contempt this all shows for deaf people. Is this seriously the best you can do? Is this seriously how you think deaf people deserve to be treated? So so depressing.
