Biden came into office with an incredible advantage because he was constantly being compared against his predecessor, who a majority of Americans simply did not like. His disastrous performance on almost every major issue has somehow completely squandered that advantage.
Biden was elected to be not-Trump. That was his mandate. Especially when he ran as the most moderate Dem and has a bare majority in the House and tied Senate. He instead decided to orient his whole domestic agenda around the far-left and spurred on several crises on FP.
No one forced him to do any of this. The crisis at the border was created by him pandering to the far-left. The crisis in Afghanistan was self-created. No one forced Dems to put a socialist in charge of their budget process and take a purely partisan approach to legislating.
Think about the opportunity Biden had. He could’ve come in and focused on something like the infrastructure bill and called that a giant bipartisan win in his first year. He could have stabilized Afghanistan and taken credit. Less partisan tone could have improved Covid response.
Plenty of Republicans (& some of the left-wing base) would still be mad, but the guy would have a 60% approval. The attacks would be completely ineffective. But they are resonating right now because there is no disputing the disastrous approach on multiple issues.

Don't worry. I'm sure the same people wouldn't keep ignoring the consequences of their policy proposals. Anyways, Chris Hayes tells me that spending trillions more we don't have is a fake concern and will have no consequences.
Common with almost all of the far-left's policy proposals: substantial deficit spending, "free" healthcare, student loan forgiveness, $15/H min wage, GND, high corporate tax rates etc.

They all have obvious & very harmful consequences that proponents insist aren't real.
And instead, they insist the problem they create were unpredictable and can only be solved by more of the same.

Gov't subsidizes student loans --> tuition rates astronomically skyrocket --> Let's just do loan forgiveness!

Our society has incentivized all the wrong behavior. He had a bad 2 min interaction with someone and his first thought is to try to make it go viral, track the person down, and get them fired from their job.
You can barely tell what happened from that video, but because the guy has 100k followers and made an accusation, the other side won’t even matter. The girl has already been fired.

This type of mob justice will get abused repeatedly and incentivized all the wrong behavior.
The only way this ends is if it stops getting rewarded and those who feel entitled to harass and ruin someone’s life with a social media mob because of a bad 30 second interaction are the ones that actually face some consequences.

There is no video of this because it did not happen and none of the reporters that were there even made this claim (even in the bad article he links), despite NYCSouthpaw spreading this lie since yesterday.
No one who was there has claimed any migrants were ever touched by the reins, which SP and others claimed were whips all day yesterday. There were a lot of reporters and photographers there and plenty of video. Incredible to still lie about it like this.
And they don't care because they view the predominantly Hispanic border agents that have been put in the middle of an avoidable crisis with an impossible jobs as the bad guys so lying about them is fine.

Today was a perfect example of why this is such an issue. Political/media twitter invented a fake controversy and the WH ended up smearing their own CBP agents without checking to try to appease that crowd.

It was astonishing.
Some random reporter at the El Paso times wrote about CBP agents "menacingly" swinging their "whips" while charging at Haitian immigrants.

It got picked up by political/media twitter nad the game of Twitter telephone began.
Soon various members of that crowd were accusing the CBP of cracking whips, rounding up migrants with whips, using whips on migrants etc.

Instead of checking if there were actual whips, reporters then demanded everyone condemn it.

Thread: So CNN did this report citing the American Academy of Pediatrics suggesting a massive increase in cases among children. Something seemed off about the numbers so I decided to take a look.

cnn.com/2021/09/07/hea…
First, the very report still showed hospitalization and death rates among kids as incredibly low. Despite being unvaccinated and reports of hundreds of thousands ofcases, kids made up pretty close to 0 deaths. Image
But then looking at the pure number of case increases shows such a massive increase that it doesn't make sense purely w just more kids getting sick.

If Biden views getting people vaccinated as important and hesitancy on the right as a problem, part of his job is trying to reach those people. Attacking R Governors with partisan barbs isn’t how you do that. Campaigning is easier, but it isn’t governing.
It was easy to portray yourself as a unifier when running against a divisive opponent, but Biden has made 0 effort to actually govern as a unifier. He’s intentionally picking fights with R Governors to deflect from the public failures of his administration.
DeSantis and Abbot didn’t force Biden admin to botch Afghan withdrawal, create a crisis on the border, screw up vaccine messaging repeatedly, try to illegally extend eviction moratorium etc.

Picking fights w them won’t fix those issues.
