We absolutely cannot allow the media to do to this Senate Judiciary Committee Report on trump’s Pressuring the DOJ to OVERTURN THE ELECTION, what they did to the Mueller report and Volume 5. These things are all connected and the context matters. 🧵👇🏻

The pieces are coming together. Jeffrey Bossert Clark (not in a position of leadership at DOJ) was making a proposal to the President of the United States, without the knowledge of his bosses, to send a letter to ‘relevant’ states 🗣to aid him in OVERTURNING THE ELECTION!!

The letter was not signed by then Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen so it was never sent to the states. The scheme was for the DOJ to tell the states they thought there were irregularities that should be reviewed. Just because they felt like there might have been fraud.

They were also trying to snow the courts. Think of it, if DOJ brings a suit against a state because it ‘feels’ there was election fraud, the next step after Clark’s letter would have been to provide evidence.

The court would no doubt have ultimately received Clark’s letter through discovery in any case that arose from the scheme. Unless of course the plan was to hide this letter which itself would have been a crime. Defying subpoenas, deceiving the court, the GOP is ok with this?

Clark’s ‘proof of concept’ was to recommend to the ‘relevant’ states to convene state legislatures to consider naming their own election winner and submitting new slate of electors. Ones that would just say Trump won, presumably.

Remember point 2 of John Eastman’s 6 point plan? It was for Pence to get to Arizona and announce he had multiple slates of electors. The Clark Letter would have set up point 2 in Eastman’s 6 POINT PLAN TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT!

I’m only on page 7 of 394 and I am already 9 kinds of furious. trump used Clark to try to extort the DOJ leadership into doing his bidding. This is the DOJ being run like a mob. Remember when the focus of the DOJ was eliminating the mob? This is insane. The rot is deep.

If Rosen signed Clarke’s letter, Clarke would refuse trump’s offer to be the Acting Attorney General. The Acting AG was Rosen. Clark was telling Rosen, ‘that’s a nice AG position you got there, it would be a shame if anything happened to it.’

In response, Rosen, Donoghue and Steven Engle from OLC decided to tell trump in the Oval, they would all quit if he went through with this scheme. Notice Clark wasn’t in that meeting.

The Committee finds that the DOJ eroded its own rules regarding investigations about election fraud. This was done under Bill Barr. The committee calls this an ‘overt act’. I hope they used that language with intent to charge.

Election fraud? ASOG? The Committee found the report was written by Russell Ramsland?

It is going to take a while to get through all 394 pages, but seeing CNN’s Jake Tapper ask Sen Durbin if anything trump did in this report was ‘illegal’ loses the forest, the trees, the saplings, and the stumps.

The mendacity of Chuck Grassley is astounding! He wants us to believe the president was listening to his advisors. He was the Senate Pro Tempore. He was in point 1 of Eastman’s 6 POINT PLAN TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT. Grassley knew the plan too. This is an active insurrection.

The president and the DOJ are supposed to be walled off from each other so as to prevent these kinds of shenanigans. Then to normalize the Republicans response by saying ‘he was just listening to advisors’ obfuscates trump from any responsibility.

How many times will he be let off the hook? When will there be accountability? His defense was my aides were discussing it, I didn’t do it. Yes he did, and his is doing it still. The media has either not figured out how to deal with this or they want this.
