1/ My response to the SONA address by President @edmnangagwa
We appreciate the State of the Nation Address (SONA). We feel that some issues expressed were over exaggerated and thus we respond on the contentious issues raised by the SONA.
2/ We applaud the efforts of road rehabilitation by the government and expect the project to be completed by mid 2022 all over Zimbabwe. Considering that Zimbabwe is a landlocked country, we expect commitment by government to prioritize...
3/...Rail rehabilitation and restore NRZ to it's former glory of a fast, efficient and affordable bulk transporter of goods in Zimbabwe. Rail transport has the capacity to lure the much needed forex if the rail regulations are followed according to the book as was before.
4/ Government must desist from appointing political or military people into the rail sector who have no understanding whatsoever about the operations of the once economic giant organization in Zimbabwe.
5/ Expansion of Robert Mugabe International airport and Joshua Nkomo airport is not a priority at the moment. Funds should be injected into the health sector to ensure quality healthcare for all Zimbabweans as enshrined in section 77 of the constitution of Zimbabwe. #LEADresponse
6/ For a country with nearly a quarter of the population suffering from chronic diseases priority should be allocation of funds to acquire state of the art machinery for public hospitals like CT scans, radiotherapy machines for cancer patients, dialysis machines, etc ...
7/...for all the referral public hospitals in Zimbabwe. Commitment by Government of Zimbawe should be on ensuring affordable quality healthcare in all public health facilities and sufficient stock of drugs and essential medical supplies.
8/ Government has collected AIDS levy for decades yet it has failed to ensure total implementation of the new curriculum of education since inception by introducing an education levy. Instead of expanding airports funds should be used to upgrade schools ...
9/...and investing in quality education of all students regardless of background or class in society.
Students in rural and Peri urban areas have been disenfranchised of quality education and prejudiced from knowledge of the new world fundamentals nowadays like ICT.
10/ The new curriculum of education made ICT a compulsory subject in primary and high school education yet no investment whatsoever has been made by government to ensure that every government school has a well equipped computer laboratory, qualified ICT teachers and Wifi.
11/ Teachers have complained time and again about shortage & non availability of the new curriculum text books which is making their work a mammoth task. Due to the exorbitant examination fees by ZIMSEC this year a lot of parents failed to register their children to sit for exams
12/ The students right to education has been denied & the future of these children who couldn't write exams this year is now bleak. These are the issues we expected the President @edmnangagwa to address yesterday as they are issues affecting real people & the future of Zimbabwe
13/ Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is good for the country. We reiterate that government should create an enabling environment for Local Direct Investment (LDI). The Ease of doing business should be afforded to local people instead of giving tax exemptions to foreigners...
14/...who are already milking our country dry. Opportunities for wealth creation should be afforded to native grassroots Zimbabweans first. Government should consider making Empower Bank & Women's bank loan interests rates reasonable to allow informal traders to access loans.
15/ President @edmnangagwa stated that FOREX rates are stable & we view that as a slap in the face for the majority of Zimbabweans who have to endure exorbitant pricing of basic commodities which are pegged on the black market rate by both retailers and wholesalers in Zimbabwe.
16/ The multi currency system has brought immense suffering to the ordinary Zimbabwean who can nolonger transact in local currency because government prefers USD to our local currency, fuel companies prefer to sell fuel in USD other than ZWL, ... #LEADresponseToSONA
17/...property owners don't want to be paid in local currency, healthcare providers use black market rate for local currency payments, in short every sector is pegging goods & services using the black market rate which means there is no FOREX stability at all. #LEADresponseToSONA
18/ This is the real state of the nation Mr President & we should desist from putting lipstick on a frog. Early this year we suggested that USD should be not be used for local transactions and as usual our suggestions fell on deaf ears because the government of the day...
19/...is out of touch with the lived realities of ordinary Zimbabweans. To LEAD Mr President is to care for the livelihoods of the people you are in charge of as the President of this country. The interests of all Zimbabweans should come first as you said at your inauguration.
20/ It has been 8 years since the new constitution was enacted & new, not so new, rather old constitution is not being observed as the supreme law of this land. We honestly can't speak of government being committed to aligning laws with the constitution of Zimbabwe 8 years later.
21/ The cabinet, Parliament and Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary affairs are sleeping on laurels. We demand the issue of alignment of laws to take precedence as a lot of people are being prejudiced by the inconsistent laws in this country.
22/ We condemn the paltry rates being paid by GMB to farmers and implore the relevant authorities to revise the rates of grains and stop shortchanging farmers. Cotton farmers are disgruntled at the peanuts they were paid. Capacitate farmers to do better & produce more.
23/ Condemnation of drug abuse is not enough Mr President. The way forward to help and save our youth is to establish public and affordable drug rehabilitation centres in all the ten provinces to save our youth.
24/ Chrystal methamphetamine (Mutoriro) should be criminalized &made illegal as soon as yesterday. Mutoriro is now a deadly pandemic in Zim which has also increase crime rate as young people addicted to this deadly drug end up involved in crime to get funds to sustain this vice.
25/ Lastly, there is little effort to ensure gender balance. Saying that government is committed to ensure gender equality is an understatement as it is not visible practically in all organs of the state, public sector, boards and parastatals. #LEADresponseToSONA
26/ We demand gender equality to be a reality as it is a constitutional provision which should be adhered to. Women are equal citizens in this country & shouldn't continue being viewed as second class citizens. Sexual harassment at the workplace should be a punishable offence.
27/ Mr President, your predecessor the late former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe left a legacy of educating Zimbabweans & taking back land. What will be your legacy? What are you going to be remembered for? Make Zimbabwe comfortable for all Zimbabweans. #LEADresponseToSONA
28/ Government should work tirelessly to restore the dignity of all workers and be sincere in curbing corruption which is an evil that has destroyed the economy and potential of our great nation. More focus should be on development programs and social security of pensioners.

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
1/ I have never heard men saying lets support a man even if he is wrong because he is a man? I have seen men calling out other men for their wrongs and I have never heard any of them saying how can you do that to another man? Who appointed some women to be conscience perfects?
2/ Why do some women feel like they have a right to infringe on other women's right to freedom of conscience? Every person has the universal right to freedom of opinion and freedom of conscience. You cried for my opinion when I was silent, I gave you my opinion & you cry foul.
3/ I don't owe anyone any allegiance or bootlicking. I speak my mind without fear or favour neither am I God who can make everyone happy. To the media you can sensationalize my opinions with your misleading headlines all you want I am not moved an inch.
1/ HAVING seen this treacherous circulating notice code named “OPERATION DUDULA –
where the content demands a “South Africa for south Africans first” promising death and
destruction to foreign nationals and defenceless refugees in SA;
...
2/...AND noting that this OPERATION DUDULA is targeting to remove by any means possible
“...ALL ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS BY FORCE” FROM “...INSIDE SHOPS
AND HAWKERS”;
3/ As @LEADZim2023 we view such operations by civilian South African population against foreign nationals inhumane & have led to serious injuries, deaths & missing people. We are all Africans despite being divided by the borders which were determined by a grouping of white people
@basera_john two quick questions 1. Cotton farming season of 2019/2020 small scale farmers were paid in groceries and up to date the buyers still owe the farmers. What is the plan this farming season? We need to be serious with how we treat our farmers. #ZimAgricRising
2/ Farmers are the backbone of our agro-economy. There is a void left after our textile industry was messed up by cheap chinese clothing & mazitye. If ever we have to be serious about reviving this industry, the Ministry that sets up prices for cotton should show seriousness...
3/ & look after the farmer who grows cotton. Its unacceptable that @CottcoZim & other buyers alike, can expect free cotton lint as if its grown in the wilderness. Like all other crops, a competitive price should be set up & a budget to buy the cotton should be in place on time.
A listening President listens to the plight of the people he leads. The commuting public is in distress with shortage of ZUPCO buses. School commuting children are always late at school, women are being abused in queues & it is now a mammoth task to commute
2/ It is imperative to add the fleet of commuters that used to operate under ZUPCO so as to provide an efficient, reliable & fast transport service to the commuting public in Zim. A minute lost in business is money lost. The buses operating under ZUPCO are failing to meet demand
3/ Lastly @zupcobus should ensure that they have buses designated for students & ensure that they service all routes as some commuters have to walk long distances to ZUPCO pick up points. Transport co-operatives a like Tshova Mubaiwa in Bulawayo should be permitted to operate.
Zimbabweans were marginalized & thrown to ubproductive land during the colonial era. Hondo yeminda successfully managed to get some of that land back though it was done in a haphazard manner. #MrPresident the youth in Zimbabwe want farming land.2
2/ They want it yesterday and not tomorrow, for tomorrow will never come. As a president also, in my own right, I have been working flat out to reorient young people on the importance of being productive & owning the means of production. Young people have no land, have no jobs...
3/...& their future is bleak. Young people are hopeless, helpless and feel useless because of the high levels of poverty in our country right now. The least you can do is to revert to the liberation struggle plan to repossess land & have evey Zimbabwean benefiting from our land
1/ Principles of self determination should and must be the foundation of any African political party. It is our Africaness, our culture that was stolen from us from the days of slavery. When one says Zimbabwe should be for Zimbabweans they are labelled ZanuPf🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ ???
2/ Nyika neNyika inechivanhu chayo &we can't just throw away who we are outside the window. Japanese are ruling in Japan, following their Japanese culture. Chinese in China follow their own Chinese customs & style of leadership. The English in England lead themselves their way.
3/ Africa must be led by Africans with a Pan African approach. This is simple basic politics. It's unfortunate that most youths fail to realise that corrupt individuals within the prencints of any household do not necessarily represent what that organisation stands for.
