A lot of people don't realize that when folks are released from the hospital to a rehab facility, often it's a wing or a few rooms in a nursing home and not a facility focused on rehab

This means the staff are oriented toward the always there, year-round residents, and staffing and procedures are not geared to rehab patients. So, for example, when I was in a rehab facility after surgery, I was repeatedly given cake, cookies, and pasta despite being diabetic
No effort was made to offer meals that were suitable. None! I was unable to get up and about at the time but calling a nurse so I could get help getting out of bed & walking to the bathroom took too much of their time. They preferred I piss the bed & clean up when they had time
It was December and they were running low on supplies. I had several long incisions that were wet-to-dry packed with this medical tape for wounds. But they were running low and instead of using one long tape, they used leftover tape, sometimes as many as 7 in a wound. So
of course, someone forgot one inside and the more conscientious who counted didn't have that in their count, so it started an infection. They also gave me MRSA. They insisted I take pain meds ahead of the pain...and gave me an ileus.
I ended up back in the hospital as close to dying as I have ever been. I spent several more weeks in the hospital, all because a place that had no business pretending to be a rehab facility had this side gig they sucked at.
They sucked so bad they did not bill for the week I was there and refunded my deposit. I probably should have sued them but was too sick to care.
