AUTUMN IS HERE! This is a collective imagining game about food & joy, in which we share thoughts about the best meal in the best restaurant we can possibly imagine. Please tag #Toksvigs - don't forget the S on the end. 1/
In the Northern Hemisphere, the days are growing shorter and there’s a chill in the air, even under the bright blue sky. The harvest is in, and there is an abundance of fresh produce for us to cook and feast upon, and also preserve for the winter months ahead. 2/
At #Toksvigs, the chimneys have been swept and the logs are set. It is time to launch the #AutumnMenu, and this year we are focusing on bread in all her many and delicious varieties. 3/
But first we should let our imagination take us to the perfect location for an Autumn meal, or conjure up memories of a lovely time and place to which we would love to return. Somewhere to revisit with loved ones, perhaps? 4/
It can be anywhere in the world, or a fictional place, a fantasy invented by someone else or by you. The world of #Toksvigs is endless and full of glorious variety. You can even have a table on the moon, if you like. 5/
Tell us what the table itself is like, what you’re sitting on, what you can see around you or outside. How does it feel to be there? Are you warm and cosy inside, or wrapped up warm outside in the crisp air? 6/
All you have to do is describe that place, and that perfect meal, in a tweet with the #Toksvigs hashtag. (Tag us too if you like.) The staff will try to be attentive to your needs, and even anticipate them. 7/
The chefs have already been hard at work baking and the place smells amazing. Huge range ovens, and bread ovens within the massive fireplaces, and stovetop baking, and baking over flames – we have it all. 8/
Soft white wheat bread, nutty seeded loaves, dark sour rye and squidgy sourdough, flatbreads and tortillas, sweet potato bread, wholegrain and sprouted grain, dark pumpernickel and soft brioche… 9/
Corn bread and challah bread, pretzels and rolls, hamburger and hotdog buns, plain and almond and chocolate croissants, ciabatta and focaccia. New York bagels, Italian pizza, French bread , banana bread, cornbread, pita and naan. 10/
Fried bread for breakfast and toasties for lunch and beans on toast for dinner with bread pudding for after. What are you ordering? Tweet it, and it’s yours. Don’t forget drinks! 11/
We have a #HotChocolateMenu, of course. And it doesn’t matter what time of day or night you come in – we are always open. If the staff are busy, you're welcome to help yourself to the larder or even do a bit of cooking. 12/
Check out the #MemoryMenu to be served a specific dish you remember from your past that you would like to re-experience. You can even ask for the same setting, and the same company you had last time. Everything will be just as you remember it. 13/
You're welcome to bring a laptop and work here. No phones will work here, though, and no video calls: we like a bit of peace and quiet. There are enclosed booths, if you really must. 14/
Board games are provided for long lazy evenings with friends. Sometimes we have live music and poetry. Whatever you fancy, we can arrange it. And #Toksvigs is imaginary, so there is no need to worry about masks here: you can safely give imaginary hugs as much as you like. 15/
Hashtag #Toksvigs and tell us what is on the food menu, and the drinks menu? What kind of games are available? What kind of music do we play? What kind of building / space is this restaurant in, and what is the Autumn decor like? 16/
Sometimes we'll respond, but for this to be real you don't need a response: just enjoy imagining where you want to be and what you want to be eating and drinking, and then tweet it with the hashtag. Invite your friends and family to join you and do their own imagining. 17/
