NSW recorded 496 new locally acquired cases of #COVID19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
Two new cases were acquired overseas, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 69,016.
Sadly NSW Health is reporting 8 deaths: six men and two women.
One person was in their 40s, one in their 50s, three in their 60s, one in their 70s, one in their 80s, and one in their 90s.
Four people were from western Sydney, two from south western Sydney, one from Sydney’s north shore, and one from Sydney’s inner west.
A woman in her 90s from south western Sydney died at Liverpool Hospital. She had received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had underlying health conditions.
She was a resident of the Allity Beechwood Aged Care Facility in Revesby, where she acquired her infection. It is the 6th death linked to an outbreak at this facility.
NSW Health extends its sincere condolences to their loved ones.
There have been 439 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 495 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 63,338 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
There are currently 769 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 153 people in intensive care, 71 of whom require ventilation.
There were 83,498 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 86,155.
NSW Health administered 19,706 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 11,016,287, with 3,774,740 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 7,241,547 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Saturday 9 October 2021.
To 11.59pm on Saturday 9 October across NSW, 90.3 per cent of the over-16 population had received a first dose COVID-19 vaccine, and 73.5 per cent were fully vaccinated.
Of the 496 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 113 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 82 are from Hunter New England LHD, 94 are from Western Sydney LHD, 38 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 36 are from Sydney LHD, -

- four are from Far West LHD, one is in a correctional setting and one is from Murrumbidgee LHD.
If you are directed to get tested for COVID 19 or self-isolate at any time, you must follow the rules whether or not the venue or exposure setting is listed on the NSW Health website.
It remains vital that anyone who has any symptoms or is a close or casual contact of a person with COVID-19, isolates and is tested immediately.
When testing clinics are busy, please ensure you stay in line, identify yourself to staff and tell them that you have symptoms or are a contact of a case.

Changes to Public Health Orders for NSW Residents who enter ACT for work or medical care
An exemption has been made to the public health order tonight to make life easier for NSW residents who enter the ACT for work or medical care.
NSW residents who have been in the ACT for work, to receive medical care, or to accompany someone receiving treatment will now no longer have to complete a declaration or follow stay at home rules after they return to NSW.
Everyone else entering NSW after being in the ACT will need to complete a declaration and follow the stay at home rules.
