A group of anti-vaxxers who targeted @theJeremyVine have threatened to visit the homes of journalists, politicians and judges

An activist claimed they “know where everybody lives” and that “no one is safe”, during a coordinated campaign across the UK

independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
The group is a loose collective that primarily organises on Telegram, centring on a channel with 25k members

They are doorstepping people deemed to promote Covid vaccines with “notices of liability” alleging they are harmful. They release videos that effectively dox victims
The same group went to the home of @DrHilaryJones on 2 October and have targeted vaccination centres, schools and other locations across the UK

They are now claiming they will target more individuals including journalists, politicians and celebrities
In a video outside Mr Vine's home, an activist who filmed the "serving" said:“We’ve got his address, we know where he lives, we know where everybody lives, we know where every single one of these TV presenters...we’re going to go to their houses and they’re going to get served...
"...we’ve got people all over the country serving at these addresses guys so if you’re a judge, if you’re a politician, if you’re a councillor it doesn’t matter - we’ve got your address and we’re going to come to your front door”

The man added: "No-one’s safe"
In a later video the man said activists would be "respectful" but that will matter little to the people being doorstepped and doxxed

Comments on the Telegram channel about targets are extreme, nasty and sometimes threatening. Yesterday saw references to hanging Jeremy Vine
Some individual incidents have been investigated by police, but it is not clear whether any force is looking more widely at group behind them

It is part of a larger wave of antivaxx activism in the UK, which has exploded during Covid and been energised by vaccination of children

Relatives of a Manchester Arena bombing victim who could have survived his injuries with faster medical care have hit out at “mistake after mistake”

John Atkinson hadn't been taken to hospital when he went into cardiac arrest 1h 16m after the explosion
independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
A paramedic apologised at the public inquiry but Sir John Saunders told him: “Had Mr Atkinson got that treatment early enough, when NWAS were at the scene and you were capable of giving it, then he probably would have survived. That is not a situation which should happen.”
Mr Atkinson’s relatives did not accept the apology

In a joint statement today, they said the Manchester Arena bombing “should have been prevented by proper security”

“To compound this John was badly let down by some from the emergency services. Mistake after mistake was made...

Record court backlogs, 7% of crimes prosecuted (1.5% of rapes), violence against women and girls raging unchecked, victims and perpetrators waiting years for justice

This line is going to start wearing very thin
The government makes much of its 20,000 "extra" police officers. They do not replace the officers and staff lost because of austerity since 2010 and there are not enough senior officers to train and mentor them

And then there's the issue about the adequacy of vetting
The government has thrown a lot of money at specific projects, such as Violence Reduction Units, in the past couple of years

But there are huge issues with the funding of wider policing and the criminal justice system as a whole. It has been in crisis for years

A police officer who was poisoned as a result of the Salisbury attack has said he felt like his “life was being taken away slowly” as he battled the nerve agent

Nick Bailey originally went to the incident because he was a "bit bored" at the police station independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
Speaking at a summit in London, he described how his day had started “very normally” when he overheard radio chatter about two people found slumped on a bench.

“At this stage we didn’t know what had happened, it could have been alcohol or drug related, or a medical emergency”
He told how one of Sergei Skripal’s neighbours had a narrow escape, after police stopped her from entering his house hours after the attack.

Officers obtained his name and address from his wallet on 4 March 2018, and wanted to check whether anyone else needed medical attention

The Sudanese teenager is believed to have been attempting to journey across the English Channel, and was run over in an apparent accident

independent.co.uk/news/world/eur…
A local prosecutor told me the incident happened at around 5am local time (4am BST) today

The lorry was parked in the Transmarck logistics area, before continuing its journey towards England, and started moving while the boy was trying to board
“CCTV footage from the parking area and the testimony of the security guard who witnessed the incident indicated that the driver did not notice the accident and did not stop,” the prosecutor said

The driver of the lorry is believed to be Bulgarian. The investigation continues.

The Plymouth shootings were not a terror attack, a senior counter-terror police officer has said

Gunman Jake Davison's interest in the incel movement online was found not to be his motivation

independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/…
The deputy senior national coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing told a summit:

“Incel in and of itself is not a terrorist ideology. You become a terrorist when you cross a threshold in terms of your actions and it’s about what you do or intend to do to further that cause”
The officer added: “The attack in Plymouth wasn’t driven by an ideology, albeit that individual was engaged in some kind of incel thinking. That doesn’t make him a terrorist.”

Classification of attacks is based on the definition of terrorism in the Terrorism Act 2000
