. #NedumudiVenu was an immensely versatile actor. To know his ability to play any role in a script, you just have to take Mohanlal movies as base. Its interesting how he has played just about any character revolving around Mohanlal as a hero. #Thread
In Bharatham - He is the jealous elder brother, an alcoholic who first couldn't digest the fact that his younger brother starts getting more fame and praise than his younger brother. He finally comes terms with it and gives his blessings before being met with an accident
In His Highness Abdulla, he is the character whom the hero has taken contract to kill but then slowly develops a special bond with. A special performance that won National Award
In Sarvakalasala, he is hero's aashan and a close friend. Who can forget his crooning of "Athirukaakkum malayonnu thuduthe thuduthe thaka thaka"
In Balettan, he is the father who passes a secret to his son just before his demise and passes him a great responsibility. Another role which proves Nedumudi Venu just had an amazing chemistry with Mohanlal.
In Thanmathra though the tables are turned and it is now father's turn to take full care of his son and his family after the hero has been affected with Alzemiers. An absolutely adoring character here.
In Orkkapurathu, he plays an interesting father who is more like a friend. The way the dad and son always tosses a coin to make important decisions in their life was pretty amusing.
In Midhunam, a very brief guest role makes a lasting impact. His "aaaaaaa" became a part of our pop culture.
Thenmavin Kombath had another jealous character in the lines of Bharatham. But here showcasing the actor's comedy skills alongside. His "Swabhaavikam" becomes another big thing !
In Spadikam, he was the hero's teacher who was forced to put low marks for him. But then decided to leave the school out of guilt. Another memorable work in such a wonderfully cast movie.
In Dasharatham, he is a friend who explains to the hero how each kid is special to his father and how he cannot give away his kid in a sequence where two legendary actors sit opposite each other and exhibit their top skills
In Thalavattam, he is the neighbour and doctor who has a special affection to the hero from the time he was a kid. He first tries all he could do to cure him. But then ends up strangling his Vishnu's neck as he did not have the strength to see him in the state he had become.
In Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, now he doubts his wife has an affair with the hero and Priyadarshan starts his career in style utilizing Nedumudi Venu's penchant for comedy straight away. Both would go on to team up for so many more wonderful movies and characters.
In Vandanam, Priyadarshan lands Nedumudi Venu one of his most diverse characters and the actor is in such fine form giving the character different shades in the flashback sequences and as a maniac criminal that circumstances make him.
Finally ending with my favorite character of Nedumudi Venu- Kaimal from Chithram. The sequence where the hero is behind him for the money he committed and he keeps making excuses is one which you can watch so many times even after all these years !
One more -Manichitrathaazhu had perhaps one of the most subtle work by Nedumudi Venu. A man with strong superstitious beliefs, how he transforms slowly is a job nicely done. His expression when Sunny Joseph asks for his approval in an indirect way before leaving in climax is gold.

Anirudh continues with what is easily the finest background score in recent memory as its time to see the villains from Kaithi back to what we call today the "Lokiverse". Even with all the big names around him, have to commend Arjun Das's small but effective performance here.
From asking Bejoy (Narain)- "What is the difference between you guys and Terrorists" to finally joining their squad as he wears the black mask and walks away from his wife's grave, Fahadh Faasil gave full justice to a wonderfully developer character.
As #Beast is coming in 2 weeks and two of Vijay's dance numbers are chartbusters, a look back at Vijay's career and his hit dance numbers through years.
There is a hit dance number almost every year in his 25+ years career !
This is few years after his debut. But this one was a smashing hit and aged well too. I wonder if Vijay and viewers would have thought he would keep giving hit dance numbers for another nearly 25 years
At age of 25 -"Meghamaai Vanthu Pogiren" (Thullatha Manavum Thullum)
Beautiful song. Beautifully choreographed. Still remember how the film was a big hit in Kerala too and perhaps was the start of craze for the actor in the state too
Mammootty turns 70.. Looking at the real special "Mammootty skills" that make him such a fantastic actor and listing my favorite performance in each category.... These are the reasons why I have kept adoring the actor more as years passed.
Not only does Mammootty brings in such difference to this portrayal than the 400+ movies he has done, he just becomes every inch of the Thrissur based business man speaking the dialect to astounding perfection.
Skill - To portray father on screen brilliantly
Favorite - Pappayude Swantham Appoos
Perhaps only second to Thilakan while portraying the warmth and affection of a father on screen, who can forget the line - "Aarokke paranjaalum Gopaa nee mathram parayaruthu .."
Prithviraj's biggest asset is that you can't predict what he's upto next. He could switch between genres or surprise you handling any field of Cinema. He could be hero, villain or second fiddle
At age of 20, in his debut year, he may be raw and little unpolished. But nevertheless he shows range straight away, acting in a romance like Nandanam and action movie like Stop Violence
At age of 23, Prithviraj nails the sauve and soft-spoken villain in Kana Kandein, an act that makes me a fan for the first time. Debuting in Tamil, the actor looked damn confident in each frame of the movie.
I have to admit I have become a bigger fan of @mammukka recently than I used to be before. What amazes me is his consistency as a performer across these 35-40 years and an undying passion to keep improvising
How Mammootty found ways to remain consistent over years-A long #Thread
At age of 30, Mammooty had won state award for second best actor in Ahimsa
At age of 31, his act as a police officer in Yavanika perhaps changed the way Malayalam actors used to approach Police roles. He would then go onto play police roles of umpteen variations in years to come.
