I went to go visit my grandma’s grave while I was home and it made me think
Why do we visit graves? It’s pretty obvious that the soul you’re visiting is long gone. You’re only in the presence of a shell.
Or do the souls know we come back to visit and meet us there?

But then burial grounds are considered sacred by many groups
There are ceremonies to invoke spirits and ancestors so why not do that instead of visiting the grave? I don’t think that soul is tethered to that resting place but maybe it’s just an easy way point to travel to
