Folks, with all the talk about inflation, the chickens that the Pandemic has TRULY created are about to come home to roost as we're about to potentially see the most Industrial Actions/Strikes happening all at once in quite a long time.
#Striketober is about to get HOT & SPICY.
Already striking are:
-2,243 Buffalo-area Hospital workers of CWA Local 1133
-1,400 BCTGM-aligned workers at 4 Kellogg's plants
-1,100 UMWA-aligned coal miners in Alabama
About 4,500 workers.
That number could soon balloon to over 100K on some kind of picket line.
#Striketober
At Midnight tonight, over 10K UAW-aligned workers at John Deere will walk off.
This after a tentative agreement UAW reached with John Deere was rejected by 90% of the workers.
And of course, IATSE's 60,000 may walk off the job come 3A Eastern/Midnight Pacific Monday.
#Striketober
And on Monday, 24,000 healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente workers in Cali and Oregon voted to authorize a strike that could happen at any time.
Between those already striking, John Deere's 10K, IATSE's 60K & Kaiser's 24K, that's 98,000 striking within weeks.
#Striketober
And all on top of those who've quit their jobs over the last few months.
Why you might ask?
Because the pandemic & the shutdowns it required woke workers up to the idea that, contrary to what's been sold, they don't HAVE to have crap pay and s**t working conditions.
#Striketober
The response of the Anti-Worker/Business-minded crowds, at first, to this was to try and cut Extended UI off early b/c they thought that'd force them back to work.
Guess what? THAT DIDN'T WORK.
Because nobody mooches off UI and it's not just about the pay, stupid...
#Striketober
Workers are tired of being worked to the bone with crap pay and garbage working conditions along with being treated like s**t by bosses and customers/clientele.
It's not just about pay, it's about a whole lot more.
And people apparently don't seem to get this.
#Striketober
S**t, what are we talking about with IATSE's 60,000?
Sure a living wage for the lower-scaled workers and an end to streaming discounts on royalties, but also AND MOST IMPORTANTLY humane working hours, adequate turnaround and adequate meal breaks during shifts.
#Striketober
This isn't just simply wage/pension increases, WORKING CONDITIONS are just as big a role in these strikes we're seeing.
And that's the reason why strikes are happening b/c those are the most difficult and hardest things for management to move on.
#Striketober
It's actually a MUCH NEEDED readjustment of what Labor Unions have been focusing on for decades (and partially why they've gotten unpopular), the reason why Big Labor rose was because of the need of better WORKING CONDITIONS that came ON TOP OF better pay.
#Striketober
Labor Unions have been more obsessed over wages and pensions which has rubbed a lot of people off the wrong way even though wage/pension increases are important.
The rank and file of these unions, thanks to COVID, has pushed the Working Conditions issue HARD.
#Striketober
Seeing IATSE push so hard for "reasonable rest" is insane b/c if you watch "Who Needs Sleep?" one of the key themes was how IATSE back then didn't give a s**t.
Now they do, b/c of the rank and file rising up and making the union AND studios take notice.
#Striketober
I'm pretty certain that more strikes are to come down the pike over the next weeks/months.
And unlike inflation, the REAL chickens to come home to roose via COVID is the fact American Workers are tired of crap pay and s**t working conditions and that's a fact.
#Striketober

Never mind bravery of publicly coming out, it took A LOT for Carl Nassib to come out PRIVATELY.
One of them he came out to was Jon Gruden who no doubt gave him full support.
Imagine then seeing same coach viciously attacking Michael Sam's drafting using slurs a plenty to boot.
Him being a homophobic POS on Michael Sam is probably why Mark Davis had no choice but to pull the plug on Gruden.
That email probably did him in, along with the racist Eric Reid emails (which makes you wonder what the Kaep-related emails that no doubt exist said).
As for Carl Nassib, the revelation the coach you bared your soul to turns out to be virulent homophobe is no doubt a gigantic betrayal on so many levels.
It also actively makes you question the support that you've gotten internally and makes you suspicious of everybody else.

#IATSEstike
And so @IATSE President @matthewloeb has given a zero hour: 12:01 AM Pacific/3:01AM Eastern, Monday.
And ladies and gentlemen, we have a countdown clock.
iatse.net/strike-date-se…
They'll probably keep talking today and tomorrow but if there's no vision of a deal by Friday then they'll cut it off.
If there's no movement by Friday how can there be over the weekend?
I think the chances of a strike are very very good at this point...
#iASolidarity
You would've thought that the 99% of 90% vote to authorize a strike would've moved the needle in a real way but it feels like it hasn't.
You wouldn't be putting up an zero hour if you felt confident a deal was in reach, they clearly feel like AMPTP want to talk them to death.

Columbus was literally put in chains on his own ship and jailed for six weeks and only got a fourth voyage b/c of the Spanish King, said voyage ending with the Gov of Hispaniola interfering with attempts to rescue him after being stranded on Jamaica.
This is not a case of Columbus being hella loved and “woke people” denigrating him.
His Genocidal actions were known and despised IN HIS OWN TIME, WTF is that s**t?
It's #IndigenousPeoplesDay going forward b/c we're done deifying genocidal maniac who began the multi-national/centuries-long genocide of Indigenous peoples of the Americas.
Reason ppl are so antagonistic toward this...is b/c eventually we're gonna have to talk about OUR actions.

He owned his decision and rightfully noted his decision was forced by the direct deal Trump and Pompeo cut with the Taliban along with the troop cut Trump ordered before he went out the door.
Biden has been anti-Nation Building for over a decade now after it's clear it was a disaster in both Iraq (Iran-friendly Shi'ites took over, bloody Sectarianism arose which helped give birth to AQI and later Daesh/ISIS) and Afghanistan (Gov't became irrevocably corrupt).
So when he was given a situation where it was either punt on the date a few months but still leave OR call up a surge and be willing to have open warfare with the Taliban for another decade to prop up a corrupt and weak Gov't...the choice for Biden was obvious.

Note: The September schedule for TCM is still just like any other month, in fact it looks like they'll be playing silent movies all day on 9/28.
What this looks like is something TCM does once a decade in a graphical overhaul and probably a change in the look of intros/outros.
They do this once every 5-10 years or so.
And really, the current graphics package is one they've had for over a decade now and it's probably high time for an overhaul on that front.
Looks like they might have a different look (Virtual?) with the wraparound intros/outros too.
And yes, based upon this "C", it does look like we're about to get TCM's first major logo change.
I'm very interested to see what it looks like in full and in action.
Love the old logo, but I do think it's time to finally put it to rest and freshen it up.

An era of Television is coming to an end tonight as Europe’s first Cable/Satellite-exclusive channel is signing off after nearly 40 years of service.
The channel first signed on on April 26th, 1983 as Satellite aka “Super Station Europe”.
However, it faces financial issues largely due to Cable/Satellite Television being so new it’s not even fully operational yet.
The next year though, a white knight emerges to take Satellite Television into Britain and bigger via buying a maj 65% in Satellite.
It’s this guy: Image
