Sound design is absolutely incredible in Metroid Dread. Definitely the best thing about the game

I was listening to Christine play this game for a couple days before I ever saw it in motion and was just constantly thinking… God. Such great noises. So atmospheric

I wish it looked as good as it sounded. The game occasionally gives you a stunning visual, esp in the cutscenes, but largely the environments look both noisy and indistinct. I have begun to wonder of late if it is even possible to make a good 2.5d game

I really do like Metroid Dread but I wish it had a little more dread in it

The survival horror elements feel a little flat and I think it's because death is not threatening. The [REDACTED] death animation is not scary and death is not mechanically punishing. Since I am not afraid to die, I'm just playing Pac Man. Which… well, I dunno, I do like Pac Man

One other weird thing, I found the game easier to play if I swapped ZL/L with ZR/R. But it's actually kinda inconvenient to do that! Switch button remapping lets you save presets, but it doesn't seem to be possible to make a preset sticky to a game?

Dread has a lot of one-way gates triggered by environmental changes, which is good, but it also is just making me think more people should play Environmental Station Alpha

DEFINITELY THE WORST PART OF METROID DREAD SO FAR IS REPEATEDLY GETTING KILLED BY JOYCON DRIFT

Pathological Dread strategy: Intentionally entering, then immediately leaving, a survival horror section just to get the free checkpoint
