1/ An example of disgusting sycophancy from the slavish Johnson Pravda

Two damning reports on the pandemic described as ‘a commendable exercise in self-flagellation’

In a nutshell any excuse, anyone but Johnson, everyone else to blame

Sound familiar?🤬
telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/…
2/ Dutch PM blamed for UK herd immunity policy

Here’s Sir Patrick Vallance stating 60% of the population needed to be infected to achieve herd immunity.

Shocked interviewer: ‘half to 1% fatality - that’s an awful lot of people dying in this country’.

3/Sir Patrick 130320

4/Johnson told Italian PM he wanted ‘herd immunity’

No.10 fails to deny reports

Italian health minister repeatedly undermined Johnson Govt denials & lies on wanting Covid to spread throughout the population

Denials & lies that cost thousands of lives🤬

5/ Effin sick of Covid? Time to offend the Europeans

Brits love their freedom more, says Johnson as he suggests Italy & Germany’s experiences of totalitarianism are responsible for their lower Covid infection rates rather than better test & trace systems

8/ When a sufficiently large fraction of people are immune to an infectious disease, the entire population can be protected by “herd immunity.

But…

herd immunity acquired by natural infection has several disadvantages as a means of COVID-19 control…
1) the build-up of herd immunity would be associated with a high burden of illness & death

(2) while infection is spreading through a population, it is not yet clear that the most vulnerable can be protected from severe & fatal COVID-19; and
(3) it may not be possible
to achieve herd immunity by natural infection if protection against reinfection is partial & transient

The route to herd immunity isn’t through natural infection but
by vaccination

Vaccination is the way to achieve ‘population immunity’ eg. Polio MMR

@Telegraph 14.10.21 slams SAGE for UK stumbling into the pandemic under its baneful watch thinking it knew better🤦‍♀️

No criticism of Johnson’s lack of urgency, missed Cobra meetings, confusing messaging

@Telegraph 14.10.21 ought to do its homework before launching a revolting attack on the NHS accusing it of -

‘seeding the disease among the most vulnerable by discharging untested patients from hospitals into care homes’

No mention of the life-threatening Tory Govt PPE debacle
19.03.20 DHSC/NHS England - There was no requirement to test everyone who was discharged to see if they were infected

- where applicable, Covid test results should be included in documentation that accompanied people who were discharged

fullfact.org/health/coronav…
2.4.20 Govt REITERATED in new guidance that “any [care home] resident presenting with COVID symptoms should be promptly isolated” but SPECIFIED that “negative tests aren’t required prior to transfers/admissions into the care home”

Older people in care homes abandoned to die amid govt failures during the pandemic

•Key failings incl. decisions to discharge thousands of untested hospital patients into care homes & imposition of blanket DNARs

•Care home managers/staff say they were left without guidance, PPE, access to testing

@AmnestyUK 50-page report – As If Expendable: The UK Government’s Failure to Protect Older People in Care Homes during the COVID-19 Pandemic – shows that care home residents were effectively abandoned in the early stages of the pandemic.

amnesty.org/en/latest/pres…
@AmnestyUK Investigation 4.10.20

• Between 2 March & 12 June 2020 28,186 “excess deaths” were recorded in care homes in England, with over 18,500 care home residents confirmed to have died with COVID-19 during this period.
• Repeated concerns about the inappropriate use of ‘Do Not Attempt Resuscitation’ forms have been raised.

Care home managers reported to Amnesty cases of local GP surgeries/CCGs requesting that they should insert DNAR forms into the files of residents as a blanket approach.
@Telegraph Johnson pandemic failures

Care homes have faced severe challenges in accessing adequate testing

Not until 7 June that every care home for those aged 65 & older had finally been offered testing

Introduction of regular testing for homes was not announced until 6 July
@Telegraph Johnson pandemic failures

Insufficient PPE

Whereas the NHS was promised “whatever it needs, whatever it costs” to deal with the Covid outbreak, care homes were left to struggle to find PPE

Care home neglect caused higher infections & disproportionate death rates.
Consequences of Johnson’s pandemic delays & failures

The devastating impact of prolonged isolation on the mental & physical health of older people has become more visible

•reduced movement
•cognitive functions
•loss of appetite
•depression
•loss of will & desire to live
@Telegraph not a fan of the NHS

The🌎is against us.

‘Visceral hostility to Johnson’s Govt in part of the British media, picked up in turn & amplified by the global journalistic establishment.’
@Telegraph 14/10

Laughable… but worrisome. Patel’s policing bill & CH4 privatisation - both threats to the truth.

Sir David Amess: Long serving Conservative MP stabbed to death

The Pandora Papers.

1/ The Ben Elliot model for the Tory party is based on his business.

Quintessentially it is a concierge service for rich people who want introductions and invitations at the top level of society.

The Tory party in a nutshell.
2/Mohamed Amersi, Tory co-chair, looms large in the Pandora papers.

Amersi has deliciously called the system “access capitalism”, a term that deserves to find its way into a dictionary of quotations.

You buy your way in.

Forget elections. Forget democracy.

The Conservatives.
3/ Now Pandora’s box has been well & truly opened.

Boris Johnson, the big winner from this rotten financial system, needs to explain to British voters why the Conservative Party appears to be funded by a new class of super-rich tax avoiders.

And tell us what they get in return.

Disability Benefits.

1/ Whilst everyone is focused on the Tory £20 Universal Credit Cut, unmentioned & under the radar & possibly crueller is this Tory Government’s continuing attack on the sick & disabled.
So much for a promise.

2/ Johnson’s Govt had claimed that disability benefit recipients would be no worse off on UC.

2 severely disabled men shortchanged by about £180 a month when forced to move to the benefit are having to launch a high court challenge - for the 3rd time🤦‍♀️
3/ Both severely disabled men have already won two high court verdicts & one court of appeal verdict ruling that the cuts were unlawful & that they were entitled to compensation

They were forced to transfer to UC when moving to a local authority area where UC had been rolled out

1/ Today in S.E London the petrol panic continues unabated with long queues at most forecourts no matter the sellers

On community hubs good news that the supermarkets, Asda, Sainsbury’s & Tesco, are receiving new deliveries but utter frustration at the suddenness of long queues
2/ Not every driver is a panic buyer.

Many that need to make essential journeys are being left high & dry, adversely impacted by the energy crisis.

Key workers, supermarket, transport, hospital staff & patients, rural population, economic losses as main routes snarl up…
3/ Many are very clear as to who they hold responsible for the energy crisis:

• Irresponsible press, mainly Tory, Mail, Sun, even the Torygraph for stoking it up
•Selfish panic buying
•And the buffoon in No.10

This really doesn’t bode well for Johnson
