This "Biden needs to save the supply chain" nonsense is Green Lanternism to the extreme. The causes include everything from worldwide labor shortages to natural disasters to a global pandemic! I am begging the press to be smarter about this. reuters.com/world/us/us-su…

This spring the USDA killed 8 wolf pups in their den in Idaho to "protect livestock." There are over 2 million cattle in Idaho, and fewer than 1,500 wolves.
This is possible in part because the Biden administration has refused to reinstate federal protections for wolves that were removed, against the advice of biologists and wildlife scientists, under Trump.
The ranchers demanding these killings are almost certainly multi-millionaires - the typical net worth of a family cattle rancher in 2019 was $3.7 million thewhyaxis.substack.com/p/wolf-hunters…

A lot of plot problems in the sequel trilogy but the most aggravating for me: the fact that the galaxy somehow all went to shit again just a few decades after Luke and company defeated the Empire.
Honestly how badly do you have to have fucked things up to have stormtroopers marauding around the galaxy again by the time your large idiot son turns 20?
Also the whole Death Star 2.0 bullshit is SO LAZY

A great way for the political press to regain some trust with the public would be to start burning sources who are clearly operating in bad faith
When people hear anecdotes like this, it gives the impression that the press is withholding information from them. That's not good for trust!
I really think the industry needs to have a conversation about the ethics of *knowingly* allowing public figures to lie in public and then say other things in private. It's misleading! What's more important: your access, or being straight with readers?

Sincere question: why can't Schumer suspend the filibuster for the debt ceiling only, and then either raise it or eliminate it with 51 votes? Have Manchin/Sinema signaled they won't even go along with that?
I hate that I even have to devote brain cells to this, we are a failed state
"The global economy may collapse because the Senate must say the magic words that allow them to pay for the debt they've incurred" dumbest possible timeline

The Anti-Defamation League rightly calls the great replacement a "racist conspiracy theory." If I were Joe Biden I would boot Fox News from the White House briefing room until the network retracted this and apologized for it.
Seriously when is anyone in a position of real-world power going to put their foot down when it comes to this stuff? "If you spread unequivocally racist conspiracy theories you are not allowed in the briefing room" is not a terribly strict standard to uphold
Ditto for @APSAtweets and their John Eastman fiasco: "If you attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election you are not allowed to speak at our conference." We're talking about bare minimum stuff here!

Oh, I know! You invite the chief architect of the former president's coup attempt to give a talk at your annual meeting, thereby lending your credibility to that effort and raising the odds that it happens again!
@APSAtweets "strongly condemns... all those who have continuously endorsed and disseminated falsehoods and misinformation, and who have worked to overturn the results of a free and fair Presidential Election." Not strong enough to disinvite them from your conference though, eh?
It's easy to gloss over this. Who gives a shit who a relatively obscure academic group invites to their conference! But it drives me nuts because this is *precisely* how democratic backsliding gets normalized.
