Here are the series of events that led up to CIA Director Mike Pompeo initiating the attempt to label WikiLeaks as a “hostile intelligence service.”

1) The intelligence communities (Senate Intelligence Committee, DOJ, FBI & CIA) all attempted to "play" Julian Assange by dangling an "immunity deal" to entice him to redact pertinent information that would deeply expose the IC's crimes.

2)Midstream of negotiations, then FBI director James Comey intervined to attempt to kill Julian's immunity deal while negotiations were still ongoing, which sowed distrust within the WikiLeaks camp.

When WikiLeaks published further leaks it enraged Mike Pompeo and then a plan to capture and/or kill Julian Assange ensued.

The IC was officially out for blood... because WikiLeaks published the truth.
