Part 4 of our Time for Action series will address the concerns regarding additional disciplinary actions, as outlined in our July 15 Open Letter to Archbishop Foley Beach. acnatoo.org/acnatoo-blog/t…
In our open letter, we specifically called out three leaders for their grave dereliction of duty: acnatoo.org/acnatoo-blog/o…
Action Step 1:
We ask that the Province place Chancellor Philbrick and Deacon McIntyre on leave from their respective duties until the survivors’ credible allegations have been investigated by an independent third party.
Action Step 2:
We ask that the Province provide clarity as to whether the Rev. Rand York has been disciplined by the UMD for his gross mismanagement of allegations within his parish or whether he remains a priest in good standing.
First, our open letter details some of the failures of Chancellor Philbrick and Deacon McIntyre. Image
It is important to note that placing these two individuals on leave accomplishes two things: it stops ongoing harm and it prevents future harm. In brief, that is our goal at ACNAtoo.
We want to separate people who are actively causing harm from their victims, and we want to use the opportunity created by the leave of absence to prevent future harm from occurring.
We are heartened to see that both individuals are taking leaves of absence. mailchi.mp/anglicanchurch… Image
Second, in the case of Fr. York, Bp. Ruch assured the survivors on multiple occasions starting in May 2019 that he was dealing with York’s dereliction of duty.
Given Bp. Ruch’s untrustworthy communication, as well as photographic evidence of Fr. York acting in a priestly role in January 2021, clarification is needed. Image
For the mental health of survivors and for congregants everywhere who are watching to see if justice will be done, a public statement on Fr. York’s status is of crucial importance.

As part of our ongoing advocacy, #ACNAtoo offers our platform to ACNA survivors who choose to tell their abuse stories publicly.

We have compiled guidelines for stories of sexual abuse (and soon for spiritual abuse as well) to help survivors navigate this process.
What happens when you reach out with a story? Let's walk together through our sexual abuse survivor story guidelines: acnatoo.org/telling-your-s…
When survivors reach out to share their stories with us privately, our first step is to listen to and validate their experiences. Next, as appropriate, we offer peer support (connections with fellow #ACNAtoo survivors) and direct them to qualified professional resources.

We're publishing this guest thread by A&L (Angela & Laura), two #ACNAtoo survivors from All Souls Anglican Church in Wheaton, IL (Diocese of Pittsburgh). You can also read their expanded post on our blog: acnatoo.org/news/our-story…
A&L: While the hashtag is #ACNAToo, some of you might be under the impression that a more accurate hashtag would be #UpperMidwestToo. But we know better. We, Angela and Laura, are two survivors at @AllSoulsWheaton in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
A&L: Beginning in Feb ‘20, at least 10 women including us reported clergy misconduct to our diocese. Our ecclesiastical investigation concluded in Mar '21. This process compounded the harm our former priest caused us, and we don't want that kind of experience for anyone else.

In her first guest thread, CM (Cherin Marie) described @MidwestAnglican's mishandling of her daughter's sexual abuse allegations against Catechist Mark Rivera.
Cherin said that Christ Our Light Anglican Church (COLA) leaders pressured her not to report the abuse to civil authorities.

This is that story.
CM: On 5/17/19, my 9-year-old daughter told me that Mark Rivera, my godfather, church leader, spiritual mentor, former neighbor of 10 years, very close friend, and groomsman in my wedding, had been sexually abusing her. Image

@ChurchRez: Diocesan headquarters in Wheaton, IL, where CM, the victim's mother, attended for 18 years
