Note-making / @joplinapp: Joplin allows easy embedding images, videos, links, math expressions. It has a beautiful page/notebook management system, with a one-click pdf download option. The basic service is free, cloud support costs 1-2 euros per month.
Cite-editor / @zotero: Scouring across 10s of research papers, keeping a track of citations can be excruciating. Zotero allows for easy search of relevant papers using just DOI. It has the capability of linking with Microsoft Word/Google Docs, which makes the process a breeze.
Pdf-Reader / Okular (by @kdecommunity): While for Win/Mac Adobe Reader is the solution. I had to look for Linux readers. Though there is a cut-and-chop way to use Adobe there, I went for Okular. It has 2 features I was absolutely looking for: Multi-tab support, annotation tools.
Grammar Checker / @Grammarly: Grammarly extension has made my type and grammar error rate quite low. While I continue to question their plagiarism checker, they are the best in business when it comes to grammar-check. Especially if you have a premium subscription.
