He named former Disney workers he believed were communists. Humphrey Bogart, Lucille Ball, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, others, abstained without being blacklisted.
As the 1941 strike wore on, Walt Disney became increasingly bitter. Despite there being very few leftists in the SCG union, he published a letter in Variety claiming that: “Communist agitation, leadership, and activities have brought about this strike.”
