Lev Parnas will NOT be testifying at his trial, his lawyer Joseph Bondy just told a judge.
Andrey Kukushkin also will not be testifying, he says.
After Bondy discloses that the defense will rest today, Judge Oetken says he will give jurors a free day today.
The jury enters, and it's made official.

Bondy: "At this time, Lev Parnas rests his defense."

A pre-trial hearing sorting out how much secrecy or transparency will greet jury selection in next month's highly anticipated trial of Ghislaine Maxwell is about to begin.

After a week-long whirlwind trial, closing arguments in the case of Lev Parnas and Andrey Kukushkin are about to begin.

Then Parnas's attorney Joseph Bondy is up for less than that.

Kukushkin's lawyer Gerry Lefcourt will be roughly an hour.

The defense case begins in the Lev Parnas trial.

Parnas's attorney Joseph Bondy calls Joseph Ahearn, a director of the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action.

Seen below: Texts between Parnas and Ahearn released by the House Intel Committee during Trump's first impeachment.
Bondy asks whether there would be any questions that would cause Ahearn to invoke the Fifth Amendment.

"Potentially," Ahearn replies.

Arraignment is about to begin for a U.S. Capitol police officer charged with obstruction for allegedly advising a Jan. 6 rioter to scrub his social media trail.

Good morning from New York.

The trial of Lev Parnas and Andrey Kukushkin is about to begin here in Manhattan Federal Court.

Before opening statements were slated to begin, Judge Oetken said a juror disclosed a possible scheduling issue.

The judge excused the juror. There are now two alternates.

Openings anticipated in roughly 10 minutes after the judge initially instructs the panel.
AUSA Aline R Flodr begins by noting that a "Russian tycoon" wired $1 million before the 2018 elections.

"The law requires that political contributions be made in the true donor's name."

"Here, the defendants hid where that money came from."
