I decided to step down as Bitcoin Core maintainer and contributor.
The last years where amazing and I coded, discussed and learned so much!
I started contributing in 2013 and went full time in 2015. What a ride!
But now, it’s time for me to move on.
Thread 👇
Over the last years, many many experienced and high skilled developers joined the project.
So don’t fear!
The Bitcoin project is in the best hands possible. There are so many great Bitcoin projects going on right now.
Exciting times!
You may ask, why step down now? What happened?
Sometimes, interests shift and you can’t do much about it.
On top, I feel that the legal risks for Bitcoin developers are increasing year by year (which can be stressful).
New contributors should join anonymously (it’s tricky).
I have sold all my coins…
***just kidding***
(… and greetings to Mike Hearn)
There is no new position or project waiting for me. I’ll give myself a few months to find my next adventure.
I’m beyond grateful for the sponsor support @MarathonDH gave me this year.
Also big thanks to my GitHub sponsors (your the best! Okay to stop donations now.)
Also, I’d like to thank all the developers that helped me during all those years,… especially @orionwl@pwuille@fanquake@achow101@MarcoFalke@jfnewbery@TheBlueMatt Greg Maxwell, Cory Fields, and all I forgot. Those people deserve so much respect for their passion and élan!
I’ll will hang around here and will continue to tweet interesting Bitcoin insights (and will not stop to criticize the loud bullies).
… and who knows, I may start contributing again further down the road.
❤️
