My god—Actor Alec Baldwin “discharged” a prop gun that killed one movie crew member and injured director Joel Souza. Director of Photography Halyna Hutchins died not long after being transported to a hospital in Albuquerque, NM this afternoon. So tragic. nytimes.com/2021/10/21/us/…

2) shooting at Bonanza Creek Ranch happened in the middle of a scene that was either being rehearsed or filmed. He said the Sheriff’s Office was interviewing people on the set to determine how the two had been shot.

3) “We’re trying to determine right now how and what type of projectile was used in the firearm,” he said.

4) The shooting echoed an accident on a movie set in 1993 in which the actor Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee’s son, was shot and killed during a scene when a bullet that was lodged in the barrel of a gun was discharged along with a blank cartridge.

6) Very reminiscent of how Brandon Lee died years ago while making the movie The Crow.
While the gun discharged a blank, a piece of a metal was lodged in the gun from 2 weeks earlier - and was dislodged and launched by the blank discharge, killing Lee.

8) years ago, even before Brandon Lee’s death, Jon Erik Hexum was fatally killed discharging a revolver to his head while waiting for filming to resume— while it was a blank, the point blank range of the discharge still fractured his skull, and he died.
