Sources : TN Transport Minister Rajakannappan decides to make a killing in the purchase and supply of Deepavali sweets to transport employees. Independent tenders have been floated by each transport corporations. 1/n
TN PSU, Aavin is producing quality sweets. On 22 October 2021, Aavin introduced new sweets for Deepavali viz Ghee laddu, badam halwa, dates khoa, milk cake and Mysorepa.
Last year sweets were purchased from Aavin at the rate 2/n
of Rs.450/- per 1/2 Kg of Sweet by transport department.
This year, TN Transport Corporations have floated separate tender for their own region. However, the unanimous condition in all the tenders is that 3/n
the sweet supplying firm should have a turnover of Rs.100 crores per annum.
The condition of all Transport Corporations read “The firm should have minimum turn over Rs.100 crore per annum for that the Firm should produce documentary evidence like profit and 4/n
loss account or Auditor Certificate etc,, Otherwise tender is liable for rejection.”
Tirunelveli Corporation has floated tender for the 11,126 half kilo packets. For argument sake, let’s say, the Tirunelveli Corporation purchases sweet packets 5/n
at the rate of Rs.600/- per kilo.
Half a kilo works out to Rs.300/-.
11,126 X Rs.300/- = Rs.33,37,800/-
Madurai Transport Corporation seeks 15,545 half kg packets.
15,545 X 300 = 46,63,500/- 6/n
Why should a sweet seller have a turnover of Rs.100 crores per annum to supply goods worth less than 50 lakhs is perplexing.
Sources add, a firm favoured by Transport Minister Raja Kannappan has been promised 7/n
the order at the rate of Rs.800/- per kilo, with a commission of 30%.
As done in the previous ADMK regime, tender conditions are manipulated to suit a single bidder.
