Good unlocks good.
Stay away from anyone or anything that acts upon the principle of —

Good unlocks bad.

Dealings with people — conscious or subconscious — imbue moral lessons. These lessons are called ‘khuluq’.

Adhere to the people of good khuluq. You’ll learn positive moral lessons.
When adhering to the people of bad khuluq, you’ll inevitably learn negative moral lessons. This will skew your moral compass and may tamper with your faith or fitra. Very dangerous.

This is the principle behind good suhba. Your inner image will mirror those you keep close.
There are also devils who act upon the principle of —

Bad unlocks good.

This is both evil and deception.

Highly prevalent on social media.

Beware.
Khuluq isn’t always observable. It’s the inner principle that dictates action based on habit

One could be poor yet generous since they always make the intention to give. Find the Hadīth

One could be polite yet mean, trusted yet not trustworthy

Habits form inner principles.
In my upcoming book, I will expand upon this topic in great detail.

What if you’re in a bad khuluq relationship with —

a parent?
a spouse?
a suitor?
a sibling?
a teacher?
a shaykh?

Without proper knowledge, these can be faith damaging experiences.

Allah grant ‘āfiyah.
Practical tip - if you recognize you’re in a ‘good unlocks bad’ relationship,

Give the benefit of the doubt, over and over. If you do this, Allah will make it crystal clear to you and you will be protected from much harm.

The husn adh-dhann habit never fails. Alhamdulillāh.

In the last moments of Jumu’ah….
When I commented to Sh. Ashraf that the Wadhīfah is of the most beautiful awrād I have ever read in my life, he responded with words that are very precious to me….

He said, “Iman, your emotions manifest the Divine Attributes.”
Last Friday, when I was reading surat al-Kahf, a sister I’ve been out of touch with for awhile came into my heart. It was random, but I decided to reached out to her and ask about her.

The next day she told me that her father had passed at the time I texted her. Subhan Allah.

Was doing daily fiqh review with the children. It’s my habit to develop mock scenarios & ask for the ruling. This question is in the Chapter on Tayammum (Hanafi). Any attempts?

You’re hiking in the woods. You come across a lake, so you begin performing wudu with the lake water
You begin to notice a very red and inflamed rash developing on your washes limbs. Your skin burns terribly.

You felt slightly itchy before but didn’t think much of it. You’re not sure if you’re having an allergic reaction to a plant or to something in the water.
You don’t know if the water is the cause of the rash, cause of exacerbating the rash, or neither. You may not be able to come to a conclusion unless you continuing using the water, but at that point, the harm may already be done.

The only other water you have is for drinking.

Imām Suyūti said,

1 “The birth of Rasūlullāh ﷺ is of the greatest blessings and his death ﷺ of the worst calamities. The Shari’ah calls to manifesting gratitude for blessings and exhibiting patience and calmness in calamity…”
2 “The Shari’a also legislated the ‘aqīqa* at birth in expression of gratitude and joy for the baby, while not legislating wailing at death in expression of distress…”
3 “Thus, do the principles of the Shari’a indicate to the praiseworthiness in expressing joy for his birth ﷺ during this month and not expressing sorrow over his death. ﷺ ”

Too much editing work today. Brain is fried. Let’s do #dm clean up

1 DM: Wish you’d tweet more on fiqh & hadith.

ME: I don’t consider it proper to discuss specialized topics in an open setting. I focus on spirituality as that should be everyone’s priority, scholar & laity alike
2 DM: You are such an expert counselor. Marriage and parenting tips, please. You should charge!

ME: I’m writing a whole book on it. Patience, friends.

3 DM: You mean the book is *in addition* to what’s “Coming 2025”?

ME: Yes, inshā’ Allāh. Working on many things. Du’ā, please
4 DM: You actually sword fight?
ME: Does Bōjutsu while blindfolded count?

5 DM: You ride horses?
ME: Since I was a girl. Comes naturally. Alhamdulillāh.

6 DM: You’re into falconry?
ME: A beginner, but yes. Hope to have my own bird one day like the lovely hawk below. Image

During this blessed month of Rabī’ al-Awwal, we’ve initiated the

#SunnaSpring
#SīraSpring
#SalawātSpring

There is o n e m o r e s p r i n g

#SahābaSpring

The love of the Sahaba is directly from the love of Rasūlullāh ﷺ

May Allah be ever well pleased with them
Among the ways of honoring the Sahāba is to recall the categories of distinction that Allāh, Rasūlullah ﷺ or the salaf conferred upon them

1 The Rightly-Guided Caliphs
الخلفاء الراشدون

2 The Prophetic Household
أهل البيت

3 The Ten Promised Janna

My Journey with Imam al-Bukhāri

1 In the earliest days of my talab, I began reading the Jāmī’.

I read it from cover to cover with the intent of absorbing and practicing as much of the Sunna as I possibly could. This reading affected me very deeply.
2 I have recollection of most of it and until now the ahadīth come back to me, leading my path in so many ways. I was just a beginner then, without the usūli/fiqhī tools to appreciate the genius of Bukhāri on an academic level. I did, however, gain something very special from him
3 There is a Hadīth in which he relates دعاء الاستفتاح for the tahajjud prayer. I think I haven’t found another Hadīth that encompasses as many spiritual meanings as this dua does. I memorized it and then, I recited it at night
When I did this, I felt Imām Bukhāri’s presence…
