The entire comment section of this 👇 post is an object lesson in progressive cultural hypocrisy. The people who decry "gentrification" in cities are accusing this VA town of racism, etc - for asking the fleeing residents of Blue States to #StopTheSpread of cancerous policies.
It's apparently "narrow minded" to not want your area overrun by people who don't understand or care about your culture. Is gentrification / complete reimagining of e.g., the South Bronx now okay? Can we all move to Tanzania and replace their culture with ours? Or just Red areas?
The word "progress" has become a synonym for "everything I want is good, everything you want is bad". Has this person ever been to Rappahannock? It seems like they assume it's the local KKK HQ, and needs some fixin up! …with their "progressive" magic, of course.
This poster is "annoyed" that a locality would do something so horrible as to make a nice, witty sign. They are also somehow flummoxed as to who the target of this communication is (which is not surprising because we've apparently nixed geography form our schools).
To be expected: the native argument. Once again they don't seem to understand they're arguing against themselves in a weird anti-logic pretzel formation… but, as always, it doesn't matter. Hypocrisy only flows in one direction.
Here we have someone taking issue with the leading and kerning of the sign. Which completely nullifies the message. Obviously. (PS, I think the sign was well written and designed, kudos to whomever made it!)
Remember: hospitality, like hypocrisy, also only flows in one direction: against *you*.
Oh, it's "those people" again. And (surprise) "those people" are YOU! It's super fun and helpful to pre-judge others, isn't it?
Imagine: if instead of a general message, the sign had addressed some (legitimate) specific complaints re fleeing progressive elitist Blue Staters, would this this poster take issue with it being… too specific? 🤔
Ah, yes. Here we have a 1,2 cliche punch of mental illness & grandpa simpson. Can't you just feel the progressive empathy here?
The irony of this NOVA resident chiming in: it's okay and *necessary* for the DC spillovers to completely take over 1/4 of VA, and inject their ideology and totally change the political landscape forever. But this sign… this sign! The gall!
Next we have someone who has apparently done exhaustive research on all Rappahannock resident origins over the last several generations. Amazing that this person has that kind of time. But it's important to be accurate.
And, just in case you're wondering, only *this* person is entitled to express an opinion on the subject. Not you. He has a blue check and the word "news" in his handle, so… STFU.
Thankfully, the comments included quite a few people (nicely, like the sign) pointing out the reality of the situation: (yes, I hearted this response)
This comment makes one of my main points: why would *anyone* think they have the right to move to X and completely dismantle their culture and replace it with yours? That's rude and shitty. Why move to X at all? But apparently, for some it's "progress". And, again, STFU.
Look. I posted this thread because a TON of people are fleeing Blue States right now. They're fleeing high prices, taxes, bureaucracy, various forms of tyranny, + other reasons. And yet… they're human: many will not take the time to understand *why* they've had to move.
This reality has plagued the free / Red States for decades. The influx of tax refugees is what turned NC blue: companies relocating due to "progressive" costs, and bringing in millions of 'default dem' voters who changed the political landscape forever.
Many of the same people who decry gentrification in cities, and "western influence" overrunning indigenous cultures around the world view their own migrations as righteous; because the backwards rubes of Rappahannock, NC, TN, FL, TX are sorely in need of a dose of "progress" 😉
It vexes me how "progressives" constantly preach empathy & understanding, but when it comes time to apply those ideals IRL they act like this.

It's almost as if they don't actually believe those things, but just want special treatment for themselves.
In order to actually work "empathy" must be consistent. Or else… it's just hypocrisy.

"Legal Chaos"… yep. Once Chevron is struck down the entire Federal Administrative State will be left with a mere fraction of their current scope. It was never Constitutional for the Legislative Branch to OUTSOURCE their job to bureaucrats. Good riddance to bad governance.
The Federal government was never supposed to do as much as they currently do. The size and scope is unconstitutional. Period.

The 2 worst SCOTUS decisions were Chevron and Wickard. As long as these abominations persist, our lives will continue to get worse.
The left's arguments against overturning Chevron are "lt will be messy, thousands of bureaucrats will be fired, who will 'interpret' congress' dictates!?"

A classic case of burying the lede: it's simply illegal for the Executive branch to do 80% of what they currently do. Sry.

The other day I had a very illuminating interaction with some woke boomer protesters at an event I was attending w/ my kid, and here's how it went down:

🧵1/6
The attendees were quite diverse in terms of age, race and (assumed) income %-wise it was in-line w/ our population.

There were 8 protesters out front, they were all in their 60’s, white, & carrying hand-made signs that read:

“REPUBLICANS BAN BOOKS!”

2/6
As we were alking by I smiled, so they came up to us:

ME: “Wow! Banning books, huh?”

THEM “Yes! Haven’t you heard?!”

ME “No! That sounds crazy!”

THEM “Yeah, they’re banning books, it is crazy!”

ME “Which books are they banning?”

THEM “THEY’RE BANNING BOOKS!”

In Spring 2020, during peak COVID tyranny and public health overreach, there was one bright spot for liberty, freedom and sanity. That bright spot was the Wisconsin Supreme Court:

reuters.com/article/us-hea…
In Spring 2020 power mad bureaucrats across country ignored our Constitution & violating our basic human rights by issuing “public health” orders that were prima facie 100% illegal. And they did this by claiming… “emergency!” Image
Once our tyrannical administrative overlords began abusing their COVID “emergency” powers a lot of us started asking “WHERE ARE OUR COURTS?!” Unfortunately our courts were MIA (or worse), with one notable exception: the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

This 4,000 character tweet thing is just awful.

This is Twitter, not Reddit with one global sub. The POINT of this platform is short, constrained statements. Not long winded wordy bullshit.

It's such a shame that @elonmusk doesn't understand the core DNA of this platform.
@elonmusk Perhaps the greatest misconception in creativity is that "no rules" is the best brief.

Some of the greatest works in history have come from media constraints: the 3.5 minute hit song, the 100 minute feature film, the 30 second commercial.
Twitter started out w 160 characters, then grew to 220 (which was a good call).

The tweet limit is not only a little challenge, it's pleasant to the eye for the reader. It's inviting.

220 character tweets allow us to experience MORE thoughts & opinions.

"Read more…" um, no.

@elonmusk @DollyPontiac @BillFOXLA @FoxNews @RepTonyGonzales Some businesses think they need 'cheap' workers, when in reality our government is paying able citizens to not work.

Democrat and progressive dummies think this is 'humane' and that our existing laws can be ignored.

Everyone else is scared of being called racist, of course.
@elonmusk @DollyPontiac @BillFOXLA @FoxNews @RepTonyGonzales We could stop the border problem if we wanted to, quickly, legally, and easily.

We have more than enough laws in place (we don't need 'reform' or new legislation).

We have military manpower and technology to stop these cartels immediately.

Yet we don't do any of this. Why not?
@elonmusk @DollyPontiac @BillFOXLA @FoxNews @RepTonyGonzales If you are a fan of diversity…
If you embrace the concept of America as the "melting pot"…
If you want more legal immigration…

Then what's going on at the border right now is the worst thing that can possibly happen.

It is astonishing how the media has largely ignored the FTX / SBF scandal, and we should all be absolutely outraged: a network of elite, long-time democrat operatives stole billions from investors and used it to bankroll the midterms. brownstone.org/articles/sbf-s…
These were not "autistic crypto wiz kids", these were well-connected democrat players. FTX illegally funneled stolen billions in order to stymie the inevitable Red Wave.

FTX and SBF are the reason why Kelly and Warnock were able to buy up all of the TV ad time & fund GOTV.
SBF: Went to MIT, worked for Centre for Effective Altruism (fundraising '17) and started Alameda Research in November '17, and then the crypto trading company FTX two years later, which he ran unti '22 when it all collapsed after becoming the second-largest donor to Dems ($38M).
