#Tembisa10 Following months of speculations and questions regarding what would have been a world birth record, the Independent Media conducted an investigation into what happened to the Tembisa decuplets.
Chairperson Dr. Iqbal Surve is now presenting the report.
#Tembisa10 Surve says the story of the Tembisa 10 was meant to be a feel-good story, but the outcomes
couldn't have been predicted.
#Tembisa10 Surve says the investigation showed that
Gosiamo Sithole was indeed pregnant and was admitted to Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria.
#Tembisa10 Surve says Sithole was diagnosed with pregnancy for six babies at Steve Biko Hospital but when she went to Sunninghill private hospital, the doctors saw eight babies.
#Tembisa10 Surve says according to the sources at Tembisa Hospital Sithole gave birth to ten babies but two of them died.
He says eight babies were transported to Steve Biko Hospital after she gave birth.
#Tembisa10 Surve says Sithole saw the babies for two days after giving birth and she was told that they had to be transported to George Mukhari Hospital due to medical complications.
#Tembisa10 Surve says the babies were lost at the hand of a Nigerian doctor who was assisting the mother at the hospital.
He says some of the medical staff who were present at the delivery of the babies had to sign a non-disclosure agreement and cannot say anything.
#Tembisa10 Surve says the Nigerian doctor was using a different name, which makes it difficult for anyone to find him.
#Tembisa10 Surve says they have produced a series of ten videos that will show what happened to the mother and the decuplets.
He says it will include all those who were involved including doctors, politicians and clinical records.
#Tembisa10 Surve says Gosiamo Sithole was put at a mental institution by politicians involved and threatened to say she was never pregnant.
#Tembisa10 Surve says they were willing to accept if a mistake was made by the journalist who wrote the story.
but in this case "the investigation revealed what we couldn't have anticipated,"
#Tembisa10 Surve says the investigation revealed that
Gauteng Health MEC, Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi and other officials at the national department of health were also involved.
He is calling for the officials to be suspended.
#Tembisa10 Surve: The government must answer the question now, where are the babies?
He says the government must take responsibility.
#Tembisa10 Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Mpho Pooe confirms that Gosiame Sithole was indeed pregnant and gave delivered by c-section.
#Tembisa10 Pooe says the most painful thing is that Gosiame Sithole's pregnancy records have now been deleted from the system.
"she doesn’t exist on the system, even the invoices of the ambulance which transported her don't exist,"
#Tembisa10 Pooe says the doctors and hospitals failed Gosiame Sithole.
#Tembisa10 Pooe: Gosiame Sithole deserves justice, she deserves to be told where are her children, she deserves to be given her babies even if she did receive the money.
