As a parent, I would love to read a debunking that sets my mind at ease that some US public school kids are not, in fact, being asked to pray to Aztec gods of human sacrifice, in seeming violation of Engel v. Vitale & "no prayer in public schools." PLEASE tell me Rufo's lying.

But instead, this niggling about the true meaning of "counter" in "counter-genocide" is your rhetorical intervention that's going to save us all from extremism? I do love you man, but how do you not get how weak this word policing is in the present, insane moment?

The other big point I'd make, is that if the words "countergenocide" ever ONCE came out of a prominent 'winger's mouth in an unironic fashion as a description of ANYTHING he was advocating, then no matter what he claimed he meant you'd give birth to a full-grown mare, no?

I get the criticism of Rufo's use of "countergenocide" here, & FWIW I share it. But in rushing onto the field to throw a flag on the play for a technical violation, you give the impression you think this is a game & moderates can referee it. Neither of these is true, tho.

I increasingly feel we're in a situation where a massive brawl has not only broken out on the field, but the stands have emptied onto the field & the fans are throwing punches & swinging chairs, yet liberals & moderates are gamely blowing whistles & throwing flags into the melee.

Yeah, this is showing up on my feed. If this was an actual thing in my kids' school library & I find out about it, then I am well beyond "how shall I operate in the discourse" mode. Parsecs beyond.
