I know a lot of you feel like racism against Asian Americans doesn't exist despite the year of murders, assaults, and targeting in the wake of COVID, but under no circumstances is it ok for anyone, including an Asian person to drop the term "slanty eyes," in casual conversation.
There is no historical tradition of Asians reclaiming racial slurs like there are in the Black and Latino communities.
We did not reclaim "chink," "gook," "zipperhead," "coolie," "Jap," "oriental," or "celestial." Therefore, anyone using these terms is just being racist.
I, an Asian man, would not even go up to my relatives and address them as "my gooks" because that's fucking racist and weird. There is no cultural attache there. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
And I am under no obligation to treat anyone who uses these disgusting terms to be edgy or provocative with any kind of respect or decency, just as none of you would ever be respectful of a MAGA idiot shouting racial slurs somewhere.
I can't believe this has to be said.
Since apparently it still has to be said, calling an Asian person a "model minority" is racist. It isn't any less racist because an Asian said it to another Asian.
It appears I have had no impact on this issue since the Tammy Duckworth incident earlier this year.
If you find yourself agreeing with someone who casually used the term "slanty eyes" as a way to be edgy and provocative because they got no depth, you might want to re-examine your biases.
People are way too comfortable being cute with racial slurs, or outright blurting them out on this bird app.
Then they want to act surprised when they get in trouble because it gets reported or ratio’d. You don’t need to vocalize every inane thought that occurs to you.

Elizabeth Prelogar (Emory 02, Harvard Law 05) has been confirmed as the latest U.S. Solicitor General, colloquially known as the "Tenth Justice" due to their outsize role in SCOTUS litigation. It is one of the most powerful positions in the federal government.
The U.S. S.G. is behind the Associate AG (@vanitaguptaCR) but holds a ton of power because they argue the government's position before the Supreme Court. In certain cases, the Court will issue a "CALL FOR THE VIEW OF THE S.G." on whether a case should be granted cert.
@vanitaguptaCR The S.G. is a significant appointment because it argues the biggest cases in front of the Supreme Court. You may remember Obama's S.G. Don Verrilli arguing the ACA cases in 2012. The morons in the press said it was a disaster.
Are you people already freaking out over the California map? It's just the first shot. Chill out.
Josh Harder isn't going anywhere. The point of the map was to freak out Devin Nunes and Darrell Issa, who are seriously jeopardized. Much more to come.
Besides, I canvassed for @RepJoshHarder and secured an endorsement for him in 2018. He can win a Trump +1 easily.
He'll get the entire Bay Area to mobilize to Stanislaus County with one call to action.
CA-21, CA-22 and CA-23 consolidate into two, one blue and one deep red. I think Valadao will get flipped out of office. Devin Nunes or Kevin McCarthy will go against each other.
@CriticalThotPhD and everyone else has been enjoying #SquidGames. I am a huge fan of Korean thriller cinema (not so much the television dramas but I think that's about to change.) So here's a primer on some essential viewing if you're Korean curious:
