Elizabeth Prelogar (Emory 02, Harvard Law 05) has been confirmed as the latest U.S. Solicitor General, colloquially known as the "Tenth Justice" due to their outsize role in SCOTUS litigation. It is one of the most powerful positions in the federal government.

The U.S. S.G. is behind the Associate AG (@vanitaguptaCR) but holds a ton of power because they argue the government's position before the Supreme Court. In certain cases, the Court will issue a "CALL FOR THE VIEW OF THE S.G." on whether a case should be granted cert.

@vanitaguptaCR The S.G. is a significant appointment because it argues the biggest cases in front of the Supreme Court. You may remember Obama's S.G. Don Verrilli arguing the ACA cases in 2012. The morons in the press said it was a disaster.

We ultimately prevailed.

@vanitaguptaCR Why else is the S.G. important? Well, in the last 50 years, two S.G.s (Marshall and Kagan) have gone on to serve on the Court under a Dem president.

S.G. Prelogar is only 41 years old. There's no reason why she can't be @POTUS second pick when the time comes.

@vanitaguptaCR @POTUS S.G. Prelogar also has an interesting story. She grew up in Boise, ID and was so bright she started taking courses at @BoiseState at 12. She was also Miss Idaho 2004.

With her qualifications and hometown hero status, perhaps even @SenatorRisch and @MikeCrapo could vote for her.
