"Last Sunday, PUNCH newspaper published a breakdown of what the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) intends to spend in 2022. It is beyond scandalous. Beginning with N2.8 billion for “uniforms and clothing” it includes N550 million for refreshments, N262.5 million for security
votes and a whopping sum of N17.8 billion reserved for “miscellaneous” expenses. Besides the N1.4 billion for electricity charges, N460 million on telephone charges and N1.3 billion on security services, other budgetary items include N2.5 billion for the purchase of land,
N3 billion for office furniture, N1.5 billion for photocopying machines, N2.04 billion for computers, N500 million for the construction of sports facilities, N6 billion on new headquarters, N2 billion to purchase new vehicles, N1.3 billion for cleaning and fumigation,
N1.4 billion on general maintenance services, N1.3 billion for office stationery, another N3 billion on printing non-security documents while a cumulative sum of N1.8 billion will go for the fueling, maintenance and purchase of new generators.
*By the time you tally the inordinate amounts of money one federal agency that produces nothing will spend on non-essentials, the only conclusion to draw is that of misplaced priorities*".

A hat-seller who was passing by a forest decided to take a nap under one of the trees. And so, he placed his basket full of hats on the ground, and dosed off.
A few hours later, he woke up and realized that all his hats were gone!
He looked around, and when he looked up, to his
surprise, the tree was full of monkeys, and they were all having his hats.
The hat-seller sat down, and began to think of what to do to be able to collect his hats.
While thinking of what to do, he was scratching his head. Then, suddenly, he noticed that the monkeys were doing
the same. Thereafter, he pulled off his own hat. Then, the monkeys did exactly the same. Suddenly, an idea struck his mind!! He took his hat and threw it on the ground, and the monkeys did likewise. That's how he was able to collect all his hats back!!!

On October 27, 1999, the then-governor of Nigeria's Zamfara State, Ahmed Sani Yerima, introduced Sharia law. Eleven other states in northern Nigeria with majority Muslim populations, including those of Kano and Kaduna, followed suit. The then President and C-in-C,Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo,GCFR,called it ''Political Shariah''.Today, Zamfara state is the un-safest state in this country where life is short, nasty & brutish. Terrorists nicknamed Bandits have created personal fiefdoms where they commit unspeakable atrocities not even minding that the state
operatives the Shariah law.

''Last Saturday, hundreds of women from Tsafe local government of Zamfara State (some with their children and belongings) blocked Gusau-Kaduna road to protest persistent attacks by bandits who invade their communities to kill, maim, rape and cart away their possessions. And on
Monday, Daily Trust reported that despite the implementation of the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) linkage to National Identification Number (NIN) policy on which the Minister of Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, was making a song and dance earlier in the year, kidnappers and
bandits are still deploying mobile phones with SIM cards to demand huge ransoms from families of their victims. Quoting a report by the West Africa Network for Peace Building (WANEP), the paper reported that “496 civilians and 87 security personnel were killed as a result of

''While Nigerian officialdom keeps playing ping pong with distinguishing between bandits and terrorists, matters have progressed rather rapidly. The bandits are not waiting for the pleasure of having Mr. Buhari name or rename them. They seem to have serious business to conduct
and are proceeding with it at their own pace. Mr. Lai Mohammed can sit in his fancy office and make silly proclamations and pontifications about what qualifies a bandit to become an enemy of the sovereign state. He can even wait till each bandit formation adorns a flag and
prints a pamphlet of ideology or declares a republic. These guys have no time to waste and seem to have plenty of business on hand. They are writing our daily news and deciding for us what is important and what should be headline news. By their schedule, it seems they have

A certain company based in Lagos has a tradition of holding a party and a lottery every Christmas Eve.
The rules of the lottery draw are as follows: each employee pays N1,000 as a fund. There are three hundred people in the company. In other words, a total of N300,000 can be
raised. The winner takes all the money home.
On the day of the lottery draw, the office was filled with a lively atmosphere. Everyone wrote their names on a slip of paper and put them in the lottery box.
However, a young man by name Ade, hesitated when he wrote. Because he
thought that the company's cleaner has a frail and sickly son who was going to have an operation recently, but she did not have the money to pay for the operation. This made her very troubled.
So, even though he knew that the chance of winning was slim, with only a three percent

''The Crime Scene At The Heart Of Africa
A few days ago, it was the Wall Street Journal...now The Economist has published a blistering report on Nigeria with the above title. All global media are fed up with Africa's giant with feet of clay.
Here are snippets.
"...jihadism, organised crime and political violence have grown so intense and widespread that most of the country is sliding towards ungovernability. In the first nine months of 2021 almost 8,000 people were directly killed in various conflicts."
"Two factors help explain Nigeria’s increasing instability: a sick economy and a bumbling government."
"Economic troubles are compounded by a government that is inept and heavy-handed."
"When violence erupts, the government does nothing or cracks heads almost indiscriminately.
