1. Education

Education is for the rich. There are no scholarships or loans.

There is no future because good-paying jobs require a degree.

Starting a business is usually the avenue to make ends meet for those without an education.
2. Food

Food is a basic need in developed countries. It is a luxury in poor countries.

People's entire focus is to find food to feed their families.

In developed countries, you eat when it is time. In poor countries, you eat when you are hungry.
3. Health care

Most poor countries do not have adequate health care infrastructures.

People die from benign conditions such as appendicitis.

Payments are required before any treatments. Lack of money kills a lot of people.
4. Security

You take for granted that you are at peace. Many people live in war zones.

War is normal to them. They have family or friends who were killed.

Their trauma is not even addressed.

People are so focused on survival that their mental health is not a priority.
5. Utilities

People in poor countries do not have electricity. They rely on lamps and candles.

Getting clean water requires long walks every morning.
6. Clothing

Clothing is also a status symbol. Only the fortunate can afford to buy new clothes.

The rest of the population buys used clothes from what was get rid of in developed countries.

If you know someone from a poor country, ask them what they send to their family.
7. Housing

If you were born in a developed country, you have:

- A bed and bedroom
- A living room and a kitchen, etc...

In poor countries, people have one room that is multipurpose.

Floors can be a bed. One can imagine the privacy that people have.
8. Internet

While the internet is a must in first-world countries, it is still a luxury in poor ones.

It costs a fortune. Having internet is also a status symbol.

For people who struggle to get the basic necessities, the internet is not in their minds.
9. Traveling

Few can afford to go on trips. Vacations and holidays are for rest.

Only the wealthy ones can afford to go abroad (US & Europe).

It is not common to travel in the country either. Infrastructures are in bad shape.

Many have never put a foot in a plane or a car.
10. Retirement

It is hard to save if every day is a struggle to feed yourself or your family.

For those who have decent jobs, there is no retirement system.

People rely on real estate.

Parents send kids to study abroad, get great jobs, and help with their retirement.
