Let’s talk about the really interesting stuff! Today, we will take a closer look at what to expect from the upcoming Pantos Prototype as a Service node provider.
For the beta-testing phase, we will provide a command-line interface for Ethereum and BSC tokens, augmented with service node interaction functions.
Any token that implements the “Pantos Base Token” function can be registered to allow cross-chain transfers between the registered blockchains. Interested projects can already reach out to us in order to be amongst the first to receive more information.
To initiate a cross-chain transfer the main parameters are source and destination blockchain, destination address, token symbol and transfer amount. By default, the service node with the lowest fees is chosen.
Service nodes are blockchain-registered web services that allow interaction with the Pantos network without the need for native blockchain coins. They take a PAN fee in exchange for their work.
For now, the requirements to register a service node essentially boil down to having some native blockchain coins and being able to open ports publicly on the internet on the machine running the service node.
The chosen service node will process the signed transfer. It consists of burning on the source chain, followed by validation and minting on the destination chain. Validation is our mechanism for the destination chain to gain knowledge about events on the source chain.
In order to make sure that Pantos cross-chain validation can not be tampered with, this sensible action depends on input from the Pantos validator. In our next tweets in this series, we will talk more about the validator being used for the beta version.

Pantos service nodes will be the first part of the Pantos network where PAN holders can contribute with services provided in exchange for service fees. Read today for some details 👇
To improve the security of the Pantos network we distinguish between Pantos oracle nodes and Pantos service nodes. To transfer PAN from one blockchain to another, an interested party can delegate the required on-chain transactions to a service node.
Pantos service nodes publish their conditions on-chain or via a broadcast channel. These conditions usually include transaction duration, the available collateral and transaction costs. Parties interested in using the Pantos network can choose a service node to their liking.

Last week, we released our update on Oracle Scalability. In that post, we also deep-dived into the first possible use cases for the PAN token, but how would an actual token transfer work in this current approach and what are the use cases for the PAN token?
Please be aware that the explained proceedings are not finalised and contain theoretical figures. We are still researching several different approaches, as our protocol requires a certain amount of flexibility in order to ensure the best outcome.
Alice, a Pantos client, wants to send 100 PAN from her Ethereum address to a BSC address. A Pantos service node picks up the request and executes the required on-chain transactions. The Pantos oracle ensures that the cross-blockchain communication is verified.

We are happy to share that a research paper on smart contract invocation across different blockchains co-authored by our CDL-BOT Head, Stefan Schulte, was accepted to the IEEE International Conference on Decentralized Applications and Infrastructures 2021: arxiv.org/abs/2010.07352
Scientific publications follow a rigorous scheme. For fixed deadlines, researchers submit their findings formatted for a specific workshop, conference or journal. These documents are then reviewed by anonymous peers, which serves as a basis for accepting a paper for publication.
Aside from citation, formatting and general scientific work rules, academic research papers are required to provide novel and profound insights. Some papers make it to publication directly and some need a few rounds of reviewing, while some simply become outdated.
