Ladies, if your blood group has a negative sign beside it, this thread is for you. A-, B-, O- etc

It means your blood group is Rhesus Negative, getting pregnant for a man whose blood is Rh-positive could mean problems for future pregnancies

Here's how
RT for awareness please
Let's assume that the baby's group is Rh-positive, your body and cells will approach the Rh-positive protein as a foreign body

If blood cells from your baby cross your bloodstream, which can happen during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, or during an abortion or a miscarriage
Your immune system will make antibodies against your baby’s blood cells, antibodies simply protect you from foreign bodies including infections

Once you have made these antibodies we say you are "sensitized"

Your body might send these antibodies to attack your baby's cells
When your antibodies attack your baby’s red blood cells, it destroys them.

When your baby’s healthy red blood cells are destroyed, bilirubin will build up in their bloodstream

Bilirubin in excess is harmful to the baby especially the brain
The baby who is affected by this, would usually have:

Jaundice, a yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes
May be limp: because of the low muscle tone
May not suckle well
Blood levels will be low
The baby could die shortly after birth, if the effects are massive
Who does this concern the most?

It concerns any woman who is Rh-negative and is having a child with someone who is Rh-positive or unknown

So she may have been pregnant in the past, but seeing these symptoms when she's having children now
It takes time for your body to develop antibodies, so firstborn children usually aren’t affected.

However, if a mother became sensitized because of a miscarriage or abortion in the past,
Her first live birth may be affected by this Rhesus incompatibility.
This condition can be prevented. If you think you may be pregnant and have an Rh-negative blood type, you should Talk with your doctor to determine the best plan.

Or you have been pregnant before with someone's whose blood group you're not sure of, speak to your doctor
You'll be given preventive immune globulins that will mop up your antibodies, this ensures that your unborn babies are not affected by this condition.

Always know your blood group!
Always know your partners blood group.

People want to live healthy and decide one day to abandon all the unhealthy things they've been doing. (Drinking soda, processed meat, no exercise)

2 weeks later, they're back to square 1, telling themselves, "one thing must kill a man"

Why?

They're using the wrong method
When it comes to habits, we have to be deliberate about creating them.

All the bad habits you created up until this moment were not created in one day, how then do you think you can delete all of them in one day? That's why you fail.
We're creatures of habit, everything you do now unconsciously is a habit you built most times without knowing. You wake and reach for your phone. That's a habit.

Change them one step at a time. Don't try to do everything at the same time. It won't last.

Pick one thing

Get a job where you can work from anywhere in the world. Don't be tied down here

A couple of my friends are earning in dollars and spending in Naira, get the skills, work for a while... Japa.

These days, it's skills over degrees, especially undergraduate degrees here in Nigeria
We have people stuck in jobs with no clear career path, some because they can't afford to upgrade their skill set, others don't know what clear path to take.

One job in high demand today is data analysis. The world now makes decisions based on data except "coughs"
Data analysis spans every sector, yes including football, It was a data analyst that recommended Mo Salah to Liverpool based on data.

We already do it at some level, especially the people comparing Ronaldo and Messi. Why not earn from it instead.

The question is how?

Someone preached that women are special gifts that's why they come sealed and the seal must be broken.

I.e: bleeding must occur during the first intercourse.

This is wrong. Not everyone will bleed and that's okay, not a taboo. Bleeding is not proof of virginity

Let me explain
The hymen which has been touted as a proof of virginity is a thin piece of tissue that partially covers the entrance to the vagina

There're different types of hymen. Look at the picture below for clarification
It does not completely cover the entrance as many people think.

In some people when it does it can cause problems because there's no place for the menstrual blood to escape from.

This is called an imperforate hymen and would need to be opened to allow the blood flow out

I was on the streets of Lagos recently asking people, "who decides how many children a couple has?" Most men said: The man of course

Most women said: Both of us

I asked the men a second question, "How many times have you followed your female partner to a gynaecology visit?
Went ahead to ask, why though? Why haven't you been readily available for family planning visits for a decision that impacts both of you? One answered: “my own is to provide the money, her own is to go for the visit.” This mindset is prevalent in a lot of African homes
For a long time, most men especially in this world see family planning as a women's affair. Men have been rarely involved when it comes to sexuality, birth spacing, reproductive health etc. When you place that against what we have here where traditionally, men lead many homes

Tying a tourniquet above a snake bite is old fashioned advice and can lead to problems

For instance it can concentrate the venom around that body part which can lead to that body having to be cut off because of gangrene or even death because as soon as the tourniquet is released
The venom can go directly to the heart.

The most important thing after a snake bite is to KEEP CALM. The faster your heart beats, the faster the venom spreads around the body causing more harm.

2. Make sure the person CAN'T move. Movement makes blood supply to the heart faster
Do not move the body part that has been bitten.

If it is a leg, then get a stick and tie it to the other limb so that it is immovable;

If the snake bites the arm. Tie the arm to the body. Check the image below for pointers

I heard a testimony yesterday in church and felt I should share this.

If you live with HIV and take your drugs regularly, it gets to a point where the viral load gets so low its not detected in your blood.

This doesn't automatically mean you're healed or cured please.
Now some people believe they've been cured or healed and stop taking their ARV (antiretroviral) drugs, this is where the problems start.

Before you start to lose your cool, this is not a thread to spite miracles or your belief. It's so you're aware. Let's continue.
When a person has HIV, the virus starts to replicate inside the cells and suppresses the body's immune system so that the body can't fight it

This suppression now means other infections can infect, when the body's immunity is very low, we have AIDS
