Do you remember?

It was #OnThisDay in 2018, that the pride of India, the tallest statue in the world, #StatueOfUnity was inaugurated by PM Shri Narendra Modi against the backdrop of the dramatic Satpura and Vindhyachal hills in Kevadia, Gujarat.

@souindia
The statue has been built as an ode to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first home minister of independent India and the architect of independent India.
The colossal statue which towers over the River Narmada, is a tribute to the leader who placed people’s welfare first.

The Statue of Unity overlooks the vast surrounds and the river basin of the Narmada River and the sprawling Sardar Sarovar dam.
It stands on the Sadhu Bet hillock, connected by a 300-metre bridge, which offers access from the mainland to the statue.
A Light and Sound show using laser technology projected on the Statue of Unity takes place every evening except Monday. The colourful laser lighting system is accompanied by an excellent narration of the history and life of Sardar Patel.
The Valley of Flowers (also known as Bharat Van), is spread across 24 acres of land and is a haven for colorful flowering plants along the bank of river Narmada. The Valley of Flower resembles a rainbow of flowers setup on earth.
The Cactus Garden is a unique botanical garden at the Statue of Unity site.

It is created to exhibit a huge variety of Cacti and succulents, the true miracles of adaptation.
The Ekta Nursery... developed in the vicinity of the Statue of Unity, in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision that visitors, when they return, should take back with them seedlings as a plant of unity.
Children Nutrition Park is a Unique Theme Park envisioned and inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, which has been developed, as a part of Kevadia Integrated Development.
The Nutrition Park provides a high quality entertainment and vital knowledge to the children on healthy eating habits and nutritional values based on the theme of “SAHI POSHAN DESH ROSHAN.”

An interesting anecdote about #SardarPatel, shared by PM Shri Narendra Modi in one of the editions of #MannKiBaat (October 2018)!

Do read the thread..
"Six months or so before Independence, on the 27th of January, 1947, the world – famous international Magazine ‘Time’ had a photograph of Sardar Patel on the cover page of that edition."

- PM Shri Narendra Modi in #MannKiBaat (October 2018).

#SardarPatel
"In their lead story, they had depicted a map of India; it was nowhere close to what the map looks like now. It was the map of an India that was divided into myriad fragments. There existed over 550 princely states."
