. @USDA's competition czar Andy Green says cybersecurity breaches, climate change and depletion of water resources, labor shortages and other problems are all magnified by the concentration in agriculture marketplace.
"The 40-experiment of lack of antitrust [enforcement] and market deregulation has come home to roost. Much like the 2008 financial crisis didn’t happen overnight, these problems were years in the making."
Green says the Biden/Harris USDA is working to reinvigorate the Packers & Stockyards Act and its protections against predatory practices in wholesale and retail meat markets.
"We intend to enforce the Packers & Stockyards Act to the maximum extent possible," he says.
New rulemakings on poultry tournaments and unfair practices in agriculture under P&SA will be out either later this year or early next year, he says.

In a joint statement, Simon & Schuster and Penguin Random House says they intend to "fight this lawsuit vigorously."

"The transaction will bring PRH’s superior order fulfillment services to S&S’s titles, benefiting consumers by making it easier to discover new titles and less likely that books will be out of stock, particularly at local retailers. /2

🧵I don’t post personal news much, but wanted to share why I support @Penguild. I became a journalist because I believe very deeply in transparency and sharing information so people can make decisions informed by facts.
My colleagues at @politico and @eenewsupdates are among the best in the business and I’m proud of how our hard work and dedication influence policy and politics the world over.
In my 15 years, I’ve been involved in 4 sales the latest Politico’s to Axel Springer. Each one has led to changes in benefits, bosses and sometimes layoffs. The day the sale closed, Politico informed us that because of an oversight our 401K and FSA are frozen for the rest of 2021

In her briefing with reporters, EU VP Margrethe Vestager declines to comment on whether she will meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook, who also happens to be in New York today.
But Vestager said they are watching what Apple does to respond to the Epic decision. "We are not bound by the judgment in the Epic case because it’s not our jurisdiction but we will follow with great interest [Apple's] response to the judgment."
"It will be interesting for us to see how they implement this. It is very early days and we have no idea how it will be implemented. [The Epic decision] it has no impact on our casework.
