This past weekend the inaugural voting event for the Sikhs For Justice #KhalistanReferendum took place in London (UK). SFJ estimate over 10,000 voters took part.
Further voting events are planned across the UK and other Sikh diaspora areas in Canada, USA and Australia shortly.
The democratic referendum is non-binding and considered illegal in India, but will be used as a gauge of support for Khalistan (a free Sikh homeland made up of Punjab and local regions) among Punjabi-Sikhs.
India have designated SFJ a "terror" org for their referendum campaign.
Based on the results, SFJ may present the findings to the @UN to request support for a legally binding referendum to take place in India for Khalistan, with SFJ using the @theSNP led #ScottishIndependence referendum as a template for their demands.

On Wednesday 3rd Nov Sikh community sevadaar (selfless servant) @sikhhistorysim will pose panthic (Sikh path/community focused) questions to Canadian media figure and Indian nationalist mouthpiece @CBCTerry in a twitter spaces discussion.
Tune in from 12pm PST time to listen.
Sikh PA are supporting Sim Kaur in her efforts to pose questions of community sentiment to Terry Milewski, who is infamous for terming Punjabi-Sikh Canadian political engagement "samosa politics", as well as his work maligning Sikh support for Khalistan (a free Sikh homeland).
Last year Terry authored a much criticised report on Khalistan for @MLInstitute, a group that promote oil trade between India and Canada. Over 50 academics signed an open letter condemning how Terry ignored context around Khalistan and its place amid the Sikh genocide of the 80s.
@PreetKGillMP commends Martin Docherty-Hughes and the cross-party support this issue has received.
"None of us can imagine what his family have gone through," she says.
"There have been no charges levelled against him, and we know this case is going to drag on for a long time."
She adds that the UK mission to the UN has been very quiet and the UK Foreign Secretary is not showing any evidence of communication with India or Jaggi's family.
